"Oh, you're back? How did your first day go?" Maddie asked from the kitchen.
"I don't even want to talk about it" I opened the refrigerator and took a bottle of water.
"That bad?" She was slicing tomatoes and that's weird for her because she's never in the kitchen.
"Yeah, are you cooking something?" I asked
"Nope, I'm making a fruit salad" She pointed to a bowl on the counter.
"I see" I picked up a slice of apple and threw it into my mouth.
"Wait, let me get this straight, you met a really handsome guy today but you embarrassed yourself twice?" We were now currently in the living room enjoying our salad.
"Yes, I'm such a klutz" I said
"Did you get his name or number or something? Did you like leave anything with him so that he can like find you again?"
"Nope, wait, I did leave something on him" I said
"What?"
"My shoe prints" She rolled her eyes and shoved a fork full of spinach down my throat.
"So you're saying that you may never see him?" She looked at me in disappointment.
"Why are you so concerned? Aren't you shipping Andrew and I anymore?"
"Of course, I'm Andrian for life but I kind of..."
"Kind of what?"
"She kind of made a bet with me" Jace jumped down from the stairs and walked up to the couch.
"Bet? What bet?"
"You don't have to do this, Jace" She whispered but I was able to hear.
"Maddie and I made a bet that you'd meet a new guy and get into an entanglement. I'm against it because I don't want to see you with another guy. Don't get me wrong, I don't ship Andrian. Maddie on the other hand thinks that you'd get swept off your feet by a handsome guy" He said
"Entanglement? What's that?"
"It's kind of like an affair but it's not classified as cheating. It's like a relationship that a girl gets into when she's missing her boyfriend. It's nothing too big and they don't take things to the next level or stuffs like that" Maddie explained
"Oh, you guys are crazy" I picked up by salad bowl and went upstairs. I stayed up all night waiting for Andrew to call back but he didn't.
I tried calling but he didn't pick up either. I fell asleep while hoping for his response.
It's a brand new day and nothing can ruin it. I had a fresh start this morning and this time, I took my car so I don't have any reason to ride the bus again.
"Someone's happy" Molly said without taking her eyes off a fashion magazine.
"Why shouldn't I be? It's a great day and everything's perfect. There's nothing in this world that can ruin today" I spread out my arms.
"Thank you so much, Gladys" I know that voice, why do I know that voice?
"Whitney, come here please" I know that name, why do I know that name?
"Oh right, here" Molly pushed my name tag towards me and I picked it up. I smiled at my name and pinned it on my chest.
Now, back to that voice.
I walked towards the place where the voice was coming from.
"YOU?" I said with gritted teeth as I stared at the only person I'm capable of hating 'Whitney'. Great, that's all I need.
"Long time no see, Reece" She scoffed
"You fool, we graduated a few weeks ago. Not that you'd know since you failed" I said
"I might have failed my exams but I'm still a much more influential person that you can never dream of being"
"Both of you, shut the hell up. I'm only keeping my cool because your Principal is my close friend. I don't care if you're both goddesses. As long as you're wearing those jackets in this store, I'm the boss around here" Gladys yelled
Wow, she really is cranky.
"Wait, did you just say jackets?" I had a good look at Whitney and I felt my eye balls loosen from my eye socket.
"Yes, she's the new volunteer" Gladys said
Great, now I know that my summer is a bummer. Hey, I rhymed but I'm yet to TK. Get it, oh forget it.
(only Chicken girls fans will get)
It's our lunch break so Molly and I decided to go get a hamburger or probably some fries and a slushy.
We went to the slushy shack in the food court and ordered our lunch.
"Why don't you look for a suitable table while I bring the order over?" I asked her
"Sure" She nodded and went off.
I was carrying the tray to our table when a cup of ketchup fell down. I was in the middle of balancing the tray when someone walked up to me and picked it up.
"It seems like I'm only going to get to see your embarrassing moments and no pretty and regular situations" The person said.
I looked up and my heart instantly froze on the spot. I saw him, the guy from yesterday. What, What do I do? What do I say?
I smiled at him and starting walking away as I nodded my head profusely.
"What was that all about? Who's the cutie?" Molly said when I took a seat.
"Just some guy I ran into some time ago" I said
"Wow, you must have a good memory if you can remember the face of someone who you met once" She dipped a fry in her ketchup.
"Of course, I'm like that" I took a sip from my drink and devoured my burger.
I don't know what's my car's problem but I'm probably going to have to get a new one. I was in the middle of trying to figure out what was wrong with my car when I heard a rather too familiar voice.
"Need a hand?"
I turned around and locked eyes with my mystery guy for the second time today.
