I walked out of my dad's room and saw my mom sitting on a bench outside.
"Why are you pretending like you care mom? Isn't this what you always wanted? To get rid of all of us? Your dreams are finally coming true so why are you crying?" I asked her
"I have no idea what you're talking about. What kind of mother would wish for her family to break?"
"Oh, so now you realize that you're a mother? You never bothered to look after us. Every single time we had a parent teacher conference, I'd stand outside of my school all day, waiting for you to come but you never showed up. The first day that I painted, I made a portrait of you and kept it on your bed but the next day, I found my book in the trash. I didn't bother to check the painting because I was hurt. What of the time I made you a bracelet? You thought it was something you ordered and you wore it around but after you found out that I made it, you never wore it again. I spent my childhood trying to make you love me and smile at me but all you did was shut me out"
"Then I wondered why you hated me so much. You actually took care of Jace unlike me who you abandoned. I heard you one day say that you were planning to send me to a boarding school so that you don't have to see me again. I cried all night and wondered what I ever did to you. It was only until later that I found that you were supposed to have only one child but certain circumstances occurred and it split into two babies because of that, you won't be able to ever have another child. I started to hate myself for coming into this world. Maybe if I didn't come then you would have had other children and would have been happy"
"Julian" She was in tears but at this point, it didn't matter so I went on.
"I thought to myself and said 'what if I act really good and make mom proud of me then maybe she'd love me and actually care for me'. I thought you hated Jace too but I found out later that you loved him and was only sorry for him because he wouldn't have another sibling apart from a burden like me. Your attitude now still hasn't changed"
"So what if I was mean to you a few times? Every mother has done that. It's still not enough to say that I'm a bad mom" She said
"Then how about this one? I'm very sure you remember this one so well. For the first time ever, you called me and it wasn't to yell at me or pull my ears. You told me that you were going to take me out to have so much fun. I was so naive back then and was so excited that my mom was going to take me out. You took me to all of my favorite places and bought me a lot of snacks and gifts. I was so happy even happier than a kid in a candy store. I should have known that there was a catch but I was too busy doing something that I've never done before. Finally, the day was over, you took me to the docks and told me that you'd take me out on a boat"
I took a deep breath and continued.
"I was so happy because I've never been on an actual boat. We came down on an island, you took me for a walk on it. Then you told me that you were thirsty and that you'd bring me something delicious on your way back. Do you remember what you said? You said 'Mommy is coming, wait for her'. Like a fool, I waited and waited and waited but you never showed up. Eventually, I lost consciousness with the world. I gave in to my dehydration and starvation and fainted on a deserted island. A couple of days later, some stock brokers found me and took me to the hospital. Do you think you're worthy of being a mom?"
I wiped my tears and ran away from her. I had Aunt Bonnie drive me to the theatre so that I can finish up rehearsal. I pushed the doors of the theatre and looked around.
Everything looked so beautiful and peaceful. I know that we have more than enough hope to raise that money. We have a total of eight thousand dollars. We're going to make those donation bins to be available because every penny counts.
She pulled up in our driveway.
"Aren't you coming in?" I asked
"I have to stay with your dad and mum. I know you wanted to stay with him but you still have rehearsal tomorrow and don't forget, it's the big day" She said
"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow then" I hopped out of her car and started walking towards the house.
"Oh and Julian, Kimmie's real name is Glenna" She drove away after that.
Glenna, that name still sounds oddly familiar.
Wait, Glenna as in Gladys sister? Her face is somewhat familiar too. I'm very sure that I've seen her before.
Wait, Glenna, Glenna, I remember where I saw her now.
It was at the sorority camp.
