I stared at the beautiful trees as the warm Summer breeze hit my cheeks.

Hello, summer.

It's been a week since Andrew left but it feels like it has been a year. I wrote my final entrance exam to Harvard. Everyone one is planning the perfect summer but here I am standing in front of a designer store in the mall.

Seraphine .

This is where I'm going to spend my summer. I'm just glad I got a store like this and not The denim dungeon. That place is a dead zone but their ridiculous under priced jeans is what makes people come back.

Can you believe that they're jeans in that store worth twenty cents?

I took a deep breath before going in to begin my summer of no fun.

"Hi, I was sent here by my principal for community service" I said to the girl on the counter who looks about my age.

"Oh, welcome, I'm Molly and it's a pleasure to meet another volunteer" She smiled widely at me.

"Oh, hi, I'm Julian and I was forced here" I said jokingly.

She chuckled lightly and gave me an employee jacket. It was pink and silky and also very warm and cozy. I'm going to feel like a child in this.

"Are you like the one in charge here?" I asked her

"No, no, the other workers and my boss went out for lunch" She said

"So why didn't they take you?"

"We each get turns for who stays and who goes for lunch. Today, is my unlucky day" She said

I stopped nodding my head when I saw a name tag on her jacket. I looked down at mine and furrowed my eye brow when I didn't see a tag.

"Um, I think my tag is missing" I said

"Oh, it's not" She said

"It's not?"

"Yeah, Gladys kind of has a lot of  loose screws and she doesn't give people their name tag until she's satisfied by you. She sees it to be some kind of medal and all that"

"Who's Gladys?"

"I am" A thick voice said from behind me "Who are you?"

"Oh hi, I'm Julian and I'm the new volunteer" I stretched out my hand for a shake. She looked at my hand for a few seconds and diverted her gaze.

"Awkward" Molly whispered

"Why are you standing here? Don't you have some racks to go dust or something?" She said

"Oh right"

The rest of my day was a blur. Molly's actually really funny and she reminds me of Darcey. She's also going to Harvard so I might just get my very first friend.

Something tells me that my summer is going to be so boring. My phone started ringing in my pocket and I pulled it out.

"What have I told you guys about using your phones during work hours? I also told you that if you may use it, put it on silent" Gladys said with gritted teeth.

"I'm sorry, I'll take this out" I walked out of the store and looked for the nearest bathroom. A smile spread on my face when I saw Andrew's name on the caller ID.

"Hey" I said

"Is the reception good? I want to switch to face time"

"Yeah"
