I was walking to my locker when someone threw a ball at me. I turned around and saw Laverne laughing.
"Did that hurt Jace?" He asked
I wish I wasn't pretending to be Jace and I am just regular Julian, I would have murdered him.
"You throw like a girl" I kept a straight face then turned around to attempt to look for my Art homework. Jace's locker is so disorganized and gross. I found a dead sparrow in his locker last week.
Laverne leaned against the locker and was studying me.
"What do you want?" I asked
"I can't believe I'm saying this but I need your help" He said
"Wow, the great Andrew Laverne needs my help. He needs Jace Reece's help" I said
"Shh, don't say it out loud" He said
"So what do you need my help with?" I asked
"Shopping"
"Shopping?"
"My aunt's birthday is on Saturday and I need a suitable dress for her"
"And Why exactly are you asking me? I am a guy like you" I tried to act calm because for a moment there, I thought he knew my secret.
"I mean, you have a twin sister and all that and you literally follow her everywhere so I just thought that you might know a thing or two about girl stuffs" He said
"Well, as much as much as I hate to admit it, you do have a point" I said
"So does that mean you'll do it?"
"I guess so"
"Great, meet me at the city mall an hour after three" He said
"Alright, now leave me alone" I walked away from him.
Darcey dropped me off at the mall. I changed my clothes in a fitting room and went out almost immediately.
"Hey Jace, over here" I heard someone yell.
I turned around and saw Andrew. He came up to me.
"I thought you weren't going to come, I was already thinking of picking a random dress" He said
"Really? Do I look like someone who'd break a promise?" I asked
"Kinda, you have that bad boy look even when you try to be nice" He said
"Whatever man but it's going to be like so weird going in as guys" I shrudded my shoulders
"It's either we go in and face the shame or we disguise ourselves"
"Disguise ourselves as what?"
"Girls of course"
My jaw dropped after his sentence. Why is this world bent on ruining me? If I dress up as a girl, he'll see right through me.
"Are you crazy? It's not like I love you and hate to let you down that I'll put on a dress and a wig just to make sure I help you out" I said
"So no disguise then?" We went into a forever 21 store. Everyone was staring at us and it was so embarrassing. I tried my best to ignore them.
"This skirt looks like it'll go great with this Fedora" Andrew said
I nodded and picked a suitable top for her.
"I think they're gay and expecting a child" A woman told her husband
Gay? What? This people are extremely crazy. I feel like shoving a sock down their throats but that'll just be unfortunate for the poor socks.
We paid for the goods and went out of the store. We were walking out in silence when I saw that Soul was going to be aired in the next half hour.
"I want to see that" I pointed to the poster
Andrew burst into laughter "You? That? You wanna watch?"
"Why exactly is this funny?" I asked
"I just never saw you as a movie guy especially animation. Did you suddenly start watching it?" He asked
I really am loosing control with what I do.
"You know what, nevermind, I'm not that crazy about it anyways" I said
"No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean what I said it's just that when we were friends, you never showed interests in movies" He said
"Whatever I don't care, If you don't wanna see it with me, you can leave. This is what I get for helping someone" I stuffed my hands in my pocket and walked away.
I went to the counter to buy a ticket for the movie.
"One ticket for Soul please" I told the girl selling tickets.
"Sorry, we're sold out. Try again next time" I smiled in disappointment.
"Look what I got" Someone flaunted a paper in my face. I turned to my side and saw Andrew. He had movie tickets to Soul, that jerk.
"Really, you didn't want to go see it with me and you ruined my chance at seeing it. You bought the last tickets and now I'll have to see it some other day. What is wrong with you bro?" I asked him
"I'm still a great guy even if you piss me off"
"Great guy my ass"
"I got the tickets as a compensation for being a jerk. I'm sorry for what I said. It's just that when I'm around you Reece people, I have the urge to be a jerk" He said
Wow, He has never said any nice thing to me and Jace gets all the nice words? I'm starting to think that I'm the one he's actually at war with and not Jace. Since the day I met him, he has never been nice to me.
"I'm still mad at you but I can't turn you down because there's no other option" I said
"Don't say turn you down, it makes it look like I'm gay" He said
"What's wrong with being gay?" I'm not gay but I have a gay best friend and I hate it when people insult him because of his sexuality.
"Nothing, it's just that I can't see myself being gay. I just feel like they're so many pretty girls in this world for me to start loving a guy but I'm not against gay pride" He said
"Alright, shut up and let's go before the movie starts" I said.
We went into the cinema and found a seat in the middle row. I started digging into the popcorn.
"The movie hasn't even started and you have already finished your popcorn" He said
"You're a guy, you understand dude appetite" What on Earth am I saying?
"What does that even mean?" He arched an eyebrow
"I'm just going to pretend that I didn't just say that"
"You're weird Reece, I like weird" He smiled at me. I tried so hard not to blush because I'm trying to be a guy but he's kind of attractive.
This is going to be a lot harder than I imagined. Laverne, stop being nice to me.
