Birdie is Aunt Bonnie's daughter. She is a detective who used to be a stunt woman. She's a bad ass and there's no criminal she can't find. She's twenty one years old and she studied a little bit of Criminology.
"It's Falcon to you" She hugged me back.
"So let me get this straight, you called me here to catch an old lady in her late forties?" She took a sip from her chamomile tea.
"Well, I can't catch a bad guy and I can't let word get out or she'll escape" I said
"You're lucky that I love you" She said
"Have you seen your mom?"
"Are you crazy? Who came to pick me up from the airport?"
"Oh yeah, that's true"
"So what's your plan?" She asked
"Me? I was thinking you'd come up with the plan"
"Hell no, I'm the beauty in this mission and you're the brains"
"Ok, I was wondering, What if we make it look like we were hiking and lost track of time? We'll then ask her if we could spend the night at the camp then boom, we'll arrest her the next day"
"Sometimes, I wonder how you got such a high GPA with that scurvy brain of yours"
"Ouch" I said
"Even if we fool her and arrest her, it doesn't do justice to the case. If she's been hiding like you said then there's probably a much more powerful higher up pulling the strings for her. You really think they'll let us have her and make her loose the trial? After all, you said she works for a mob"
"You're right, so what do you suggest we do?" I asked
"Well your plan sounds great but instead of just a day, we need to spend two or maybe three days. We have to find proof that she's working for them like maybe records of their Bank transfers and all that. There's no reception at a camp so she'll need to have proof that they're not duping her"
"But if she comes out for the business itself then why won't she do the same for the transactions"
"This is why, you'll be stuck reading novels and writing poems while I carry a gun all day"
"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked
"You're so naive when it comes to crime. Every criminal is a threat to another. They might work together but in case you didn't know, the biggest traitor ever is the criminal that you joined hands with. She's smart enough to not let them know her hideout but she can't risk getting caught over a bank alert"
"Wow, you're really good"
"Of course, I guess I am The beauty and the brains for this mission. Since you're not the beauty and you're also unable to make sure good plan, I guess I should give you something to do. We obviously can't operate alone, I need you to prepare an odd squad"
"An odd squad? Is that an actual thing? I thought it was just the combination of different kinds of people who you don't expect to be a squad"
"So what do you think odd squad means? I need a cheeky girl who's a pro at distractions, a charming boy who can woo any lady and a regular person to just assist us"
"Alright"
"Now go away, I need my beauty sleep for tomorrow"
I walked out of her room and headed back to mine. My phone started ringing, I pulled it out and looked at the caller ID.
I contemplated whether or not to answer the call. I ended up tossing the phone on my bed.
I just don't want to talk to Andrew because he's going to make me want to go visit him but I have so much going on here. I can't possibly just run away from it.
My phone started ringing as soon as I stepped out of the bathroom. Really, this dude really doesn't take a hint. I was about to switch off my phone when I saw a different name on my screen.
"Hey, you"
"I thought you'd not answer my call, thank God"
"Why won't I answer your call? Did you like do something wrong?"
"No, I just.....Will you go on a date with me?"
"Whoa, slow down Romeo"
"Why, I mean I really want to take you on a date tomorrow"
"Oh, about that, I have to go on a quick trip with my cousin and some of my friends"
"Can I come?" He asked
Well, we do need someone who'll just assist us because Riley is already playing the part of the guy who can woo any girl. If Andrew was here, he'll be perfect.
Seriously, can't I just go one second without talking about Andrew?
"I mean, if you wanna"
"Cool, text me everything I need to know about the trip while I go pack my suitcase" He said
"Alright"
I ended the call and did exactly as he asked. I didn't realize that I was smiling to myself until my cheek started to hurt.
I guess it's not completely impossible to get over Mr pretty face.
"How long are you going to stay up there?" Birdie yelled from downstairs.
"I'm coming Birdie" I closed up my suitcase and buckled the strap of my sandals.
Jace drove us to Darcey, Riley and Logan's house to pick them up. He then took us to the local airport which was were we parted ways with him.
I slept all throughout the flight. I guess it was a lot shorter than the last time because we used a plane. We landed in Brookwood after a couple of hours.
The camp is located in a small town known as Brookwood. I swallowed a lump in my throat as I saw Glenna in front of the camp.
"So, you guys are tourists but there are no hostels in this town so you want to stay here?" She asked
"Yes, Miss, I'll pay you whatever you want but please let us stay here" Birdie said
"Alright then, I'll charge you five hundred bucks for two days" She said
"Five hundred? That's pretty low" Darcey said
"Just say thank you" Birdie shot a death glare at her.
"It's ok, I like kids" She said
She's really good at lying. If I didn't know the truth, I would have actually believed her.
Apart from us, there were some children and adults. She gave us to key to two cabins but we decided to stay together. Although, Birdie wanted her own room.
Now that I know what kind of person she is, I'm not sleeping in a room with three idiots. Wherever Birdie is staying, I'll stay with her.
"I still don't get why you guys won't let me have the other cabin. If you're worried that I'll be alone and scared then you shouldn't bother, I've slept in a house at a graveyard before" She said
"Trust me, no one's bothered that you'll be scared. We're the ones who is scared" Riley said
"Speak for yourself, I can take on an entire mob" Darcey said
"Mob? I thought we cane here to stop Glenna?" Logan asked
