chapter sixteen: (part 1) lost and found

(Barnacles's pov)
We just arrived in Antarctica, saber and I are going to take the gup-S out to explore, Shellington dashi and peso are going to see if any emperor penguins live on the ice shelf directly above the octopod, saber and I plan on going further out away from the ship, I was in my room getting ready to head out when a call came through my control panel screen "are you ready yet captain?" Saber asked excitedly, she can't wait to get out there "almost, I'll meet you in the launch bay in a couple minutes" I responded, "alright matey, see ya when ya get down here, saber out" she said placing her paw to her forehead in salute, I mimicked her actions and the call ended, I was pretty much ready but I felt like I was missing something or I did feel that way before walking in front of the mirror on my wall and realizing I didn't have my hat on, I walked over to my closest and grabbed it off the top shelf and placed it on my head "that's better" I said to myself, I looked at my old winter gear, I decided to wear my old winter gear instead of my snow suit

I pulled on my navy thermal shirt ruby red parka and black snow boots, grabbed my dark gray gloves and brown book bag from my bedside table and headed for the launch bay "look at you, all decked out in red" saber mewed, I'll be honest I find my parka a lot more comfortable than my snow suits puffer jacket "is the gup-S ready tweak" I asked, "sure is cap, you two have fun out there" tweak said automatically walking to the lever and waiting for my command, saber and I jumped in the ship "tweak open the octo-hatch" I told the patiently waiting rabbit as saber closed the windscreen, "with pleasure cap" tweak remarked flipping the lever, saber and I headed out and on to the ice, I think saber is really going to enjoy this

(Peso's pov)
Me dashi and Shellington are looking for penguins except the penguins we're looking for are a lot bigger than me "I can't wait to photograph some Emperor penguins" dashi exclaimed beaming with excitement, "hey Shellington, don't emperor penguins lay their eggs this time of year" I asked waddling up next to them in the front of the gup-X, "yes peso, emperor penguin mom's go out to sea for food well the daddy emperor penguin keeps the egg warm" Shellington explained, "mmm, I wonder what the captain and saber are looking for?" I pondered aloud, "I don't think they're looking for anything in particular, the way it sounded I'm pretty sure saber just wants to explore" dashi laughed, "she's definitely Kwazii's daughter" Shellington added as he laughed along with dashi, I simply smiled, saber and kwazii are very similar expect saber doesn't get into trouble or crash gups as much as kwazii does, if anything trouble finds her and she's usually able to get herself out of it, kwazii on the other hand...well flipper in my case, not so much, the captain normally has to get kwazii out of the messes he gets himself into
