chapter sixteen: (part 3) lost and found

(Kwazii's pov)
"What's going on Kwazii?" Kate cat asked me, "the captain and saber are in trouble but I don't know what's wrong" I replied as I finished putting on my show suit, just then dashi Shellington and peso appeared on one of the computer screens "who sounded the octo-alert?" Dashi asked, "I did, kwazii said to" ocean explained, her and dashi have become quite close and ocean is now our second I.T technician "is everyone okay?" Peso asked quietly, "I don't know, we've lost contact with the captain and saber" I explained, peso gulped in fear "what do you want us to do kwazii?" Shellington asked worryingly, "keep an eye out for them and if you locate them call me, Kateleen peace and I are going after them" I responded, "will do kwazii, over and out" dashi said ending the call, "tweak prepare the gup-H, Kateleen peace get your snow suits on, ocean keep trying to contact saber and the captain" I said in one breath, "on it kwaz" ocean said running to the control panel, "aye aye" Kate cat answered just as peace exclaimed "we're with you big bro", I hope they're not hurt or worse....

(Saber's pov)
The captain and I have been walking for a while, I'm still not quite sure where we are exactly, which is bad to say I'm the main navigator on the crew but there's been something else on my mind as of late

(Barnacles's pov)
"Captain can I pick your brain for a bit?" Saber asked, "that sounds uncomfortable" I remarked with a laugh trying to lighten the mood, "captain" saber snapped slightly annoyed, "sorry, what's on your mind?" I asked, "well..you know how we found yours and Kwazii's families?" She asked, "yeah, have you been thinking about what skinner said?" I asked, "kinda, it's just when kwazii found me I was to small to remember anything that had happened beforehand, I've heard so many stories from each crewmember about their past before they joined the octonauts, I just wish I knew mine" she explained sadly, "saber, we are your family, you have a dad and three aunts that love you, besides the cubs got really excited when they heard me call you my niece, they kept saying that they thought it was so cool that they had a pirate cousin and I'm happy to call you apart of my big extended family" I said with a smile as I keeled down to be on Saber's eye level, "really captain?" Saber questioned, "really, what's past is past, you know your like a little sister to tweak" I remarked happily as I stood up, "does tweak  have any siblings?" Saber asked as we continued walking, "no..well not any biological ones at least, she's always considered me an older brother, I remember her dad not being too happy about that" I explained, saber placed her paw to her chin as if trying to think of what to say

"Why was her dad unhappy? You're the nicest polar bear I've ever met" saber finally spoke, "that's just it, most polar bears are predators, after he got to know me he was alright with it...but I do remember her fighting with him about it" I explained, wow, we just came out here to explore and it turned into this, funny how things happen like that

(Flashback)

(Barnacles's pov)
"Not much further cap" tweak explained as we swam through the Florida Everglades, Tweaks dad is a ranger here, he keeps everything ship shape in the marsh "does your dad like to swim tweak?" I asked curious, "somewhat, most rabbits don't, I guess that's why I like swimming with you so well" she responded as we arrived at a building in the middle of the swamp, "this is my dad's ranger station, he's probably inside" she explained walking up to the door, I followed her inside and I saw a dark green bunny

"dad" tweak exclaimed, "tweak, I've missed you what brings you back home? Is everything okay?" He questioned, "everything's fine, I just wanted you to meet my friend and coworker, captain barnacles" she said pointing a paw at me, "your...a polar bear?" He exclaimed, "um..yes, is there a problem?" I questioned slightly fidgeting with my pullover I had tied around my waist (pictured above), "that is the problem, tweak polar bears are predators, why in your right mind would you bring one here?" He shouted, "don't you dare talk to my captain like that" tweak explained glaring at her father, I can understand why he'd be concerned, most polar bears are predators but I'm certainly not "young lady, you may be an adult but I'm still your parent" ragnar marsh snapped back, "at least she has one..." I sighed sadly remembering my own mum and dad, "thanks a lot" tweak exclaimed angrily, "for what?" Marsh asked confused as tweak walked over and placed her paw on my shoulder, she looked at me and whispered "sorry, my dad can be a bit blunt" she apologized, "it's alright" I responded softly, "no it's not, you're not alright, you wouldn't be clawing at your arm if you were" she disagreed, she's right, i tend to claw at my thick fur when something's bothering me

"What's going on?" Tweaks dad exclaimed, "barnacles lost his parents in a snow storm when he was a cub and has had to fend for himself and his twin sister ever since, he just about lost his left eye to a walrus and he's almost blind in that eye because of it, he's not had the easiest time growing up and I suggeste you apologize before I feed you to a gator" tweak explained still giving him a death glare, "ether way he's the nicest bear I've ever met" she added, "oh..I'm sorry" he apologized after tweak's outburst, "it's alright..you didn't know" I responded burying my emotions and memories, "she called you captain, so I'm assuming you work on the same cargo ship" marsh said trying to change the subject, "indeed" I responded resting my paw on my book bag, "he was there ever since I started, he even helps me with repairs from time to time" tweak added, "well, what kind of captain would I be if I didn't?" I remarked, tweak laughed slightly at my comment, we spent the rest of the afternoon talking with ragnar marsh

(End of flashback)

(Barnacles's pov)
"Wow...he sounds rude" saber said squinting her eyes, "true but after a you get to know him he's not so bad, just like tweak said he is very blunt" I replied, "besides you would've acted the same way if someone said something like that about kwazii" I added, "I'd act like that if that was said to any of the crew" she exclaimed, Saber would defend any of us, just like I said before the octonauts are one big extended family
