(Kwazii's pov)
"Kwazii it's time" saber whispered though me helmet radio, "aye, I'm on me way back" I whispered back, "what was that kwazii? Where you talking to me?" The captain asked turning around to face me, "I asked if you wanted to race the gups to the other side of the reef" I responded, "sure, that sounds fun" he replied with a smile, we swam back to our ships "I'll give you a head start to make it fair sense I'm in a getaway gup" I explained, "um..okay..if you say so" the captain replied suspiciously, "alright on go...1 2 3 go" I shouted the last word, the captain took the head start and I turned around to head back to the octopod
I arrived in the launch bay and was met by me sisters "is the captain's family here yet?" I questioned, "yep, now that you're here the only thing left to do is sound the octo-alert" ocean explained, we headed up to the HQ "woah, this looks amazing, the captain's gonna love it" I exclaimed cheerfully, "now there's one thing left to do, everybody take you're positions and saber sound the octo-alert" I added, everyone nodded in response, saber front flipped over to the octo-alert as everyone else hid "everybody ready?" Saber asked raising her paw prepared to hit the button, she got a collection of affirmatives in response "alright, sounding the octo-alert in..3 2 1" she exclaimed hitting the alarm on 1 and then running to hide under the table, now we just have wait for the captain
(Barnacles's pov)
I wonder why kwazii gave me a head start, I'm not gonna argue, although I do suspect that the crew might have forgotten that today is my birthday...I shouldn't think like this, though everyone has been acting strange lately, I know they're planning something, I just don't know what, just then the octo-alert started going off "octonauts to the-huh?" I said automatically, "octonauts what's going on?" I questioned but no one answered, I need to get back to the octopod now, I turned the gup-D around and sped in that direction
When I arrived the octo-hatch was open and the HQ's blinds were shut, I docked the gup-D in the launch bay "mm, where is everyone?" I questioned concerned looking around, all the gups are here..including the gup-B "kwazii must've got here before me" I thought aloud, I decided to check the HQ, once I got there I looked around but couldn't see anything as the lights were turned off "what's going on?" I pondered aloud, "surprise" everyone shouted at once as the lights came on, "so this is what you've all been planning" I remarked with a laugh, "birthday hug" Orson and Ursa yelled as they ran towards me, I laughed slightly and patted them both on the head
"Happy birthday uncle barnacles" Orson and Ursa piped out in unison as twins tend to do, "happy birthday love" Nora remarked happily walking up to me and kissing my cheek, "did we surprise you?" Saber questioned smiling, "indeed you did but I didn't think you remembered" I explained looking at the floor, "nonsense, we'd never forget our captain's birthday" inkling implied, "aye matey, you've done so much for all of us, it's the least we could do" kwazii explained placing his paw on my shoulder, then his expression changed from happy to confused
(Kwazii's pov)
"What's that for?" I questioned pointing to a bracelet on the captain's wrist, "oh this, Nora gave it to me" he explained proudly, the captain's mother walked up to examin it, "boyfriend? Does that mean?" She questioned, the captain nodded in response and Beatrice hugged her son tightly "so you did ask him" dashi exclaimed, "yes, I did" Nora replied sheepishly, the captain kissed the top of Nora's head as she is considerably shorter than he is causing her to blush slightly
"Congrats you two" saber mewed, "yeah, what saber said" I said feeling a hint of jealousy, "don't worry kwazii, I'll always have time for you" the captain laughed, "really?" I questioned, "really, we are best friends after all" he replied hugging me, I gladly accepted the hug, "now, let's get this birthday show on the road" saber mewed making everyone laugh,
(Bianca's pov)
after we ate dashi walked over to barnacles what looked like a gift in her paws "here captain, it's a gift from all of the octonauts" dashi explained as she handed it to him, the whole crew lined up side by side and saluted their captain in a military type fashion
"I don't know what to say....thanks everyone" barnacles said, I don't think I've ever seen my brother this happy, he proceeded to open the gift, it was a book but my twins reaction told it was much more than that "what is it son?" Dad asked confused, "it's a photo album of the whole crew and all our friends and family" barnacles explained delighted, "we've got a present for you to mum" Orson and Ursa exclaimed, they handed me a necklace that was similar to my brothers bracelet but instead of navy blue it had magenta colored beads and some that spelled out "best mum ever", "thank you cubs" I said happily placing the necklace around my neck,
Barnacles stood next to me and placed his arm around my shoulders and smiled at me, I returned the warm smile "happy 31st birthday you two" our parents exclaimed, dad stood next to me as mum and barnacles put an arm around each other "happy birthday from the octonauts" saber mewed, "aye and many more to come" kwazii added, "everyone gather round for a group photo" dashi exclaimed setting up her camera, this really has been one of the happiest birthdays me and my brother have ever had
