chapter eighteen: (part 2) a big surprise

(Tweaks pov)
Dashi and I were in the launch bay discussing everything we'd need for the captain's surprise birthday party when him and kwazii came out of the octo-shoot "anyway, you're camera should be good to go" I said hopeful the captain didn't hear our previous conversation, "thanks tweak, I can't wait to test it out, oh, hey kwazii, hi captain" dashi said playing along, "is everything alright?" Cap asked, there really isn't much that gets past the captain "everything's fine" dashi assured him, "are you sure?" The captain asked suspiciously, "yes sir, what are you boys up to?" Dashi questioned in an attempt to change the subject, "we're headed out to the reef matey" kwazii mewed in excitement, "oh, have fun boys" dashi replied, the captain looks quite displeased with her answer but we can't tell him what's going on cuz it would ruin the surprise

"come on me hearty, let's go" kwazii shouted as he front flipped into the gup-B, "alright alright, easy tiger, I'm coming" the captain remarked with a laugh as he hopped in the cockpit of the gup-D, "tweak-" he started, "open the octo-hatch, one step ahead of ya cap" I interrupted, the captain smiled in response as I pulled the lever and the younger of the two boys gave me a wink "have fun" I said with a wave, "geez, that was close" I sighed after they left, "yeah too close, anyway they're gone now, we should get started" dashi responded, I sighed "yeah, I hope kwazii can keep him distracted long enough"

(Barnacles's pov)
Kwazii and I raced from the octopod to the reef "how'd ya beat me?" Kwazii asked as he opened the gup-B's windscreen, "well instead of just going fast I picked the straightest route" I explained as I swam ahead of him, "now that we're here, what should we do next?" I questioned as I turned around excepting to see kwazii but he was gone, "kwazii?" I asked concerned, where did he go? "meow" that sounds like Kwazii's voice, "eh?" I exclaimed as I turned in the direction the noise came from

I was met by kwazii tackling me to the sandy sea floor, I sat up and shook my head as kwazii mewed playfully and took off "oh no ya don't" I said swimming after him, I chased him for a while before deciding that if he was gonna tackle me then it was only fair if I surprised him back, I swam behind a rock and waited for kwazii to get closer "huh? Where'd ya go?" Kwazii asked confused as he unknowingly swam closer to me, "so you want to play hide and seek do ye?" He asked but I remained silent, "if that's the case then I'm gonna find ya, ya big marshmallow" he remarked, the only person to ever call me that is Nora, kwazii turned away from the rock and I quietly swam out and roared at him from behind "aah" kwazii screamed and then realized it was me, "haha, look's like I found you kwazii" I laughed, kwazii mewed in annoyance before speaking "alright alright, you win" he replied solemnly, "may I ask why you called me a marshmallow?" I questioned, "I couldn't think of anything white besides polar bears" he remarked swimming away from me, then I thought of the way tweak and dashi acted earlier, as though they were hiding something

(Kwazii's pov)
I started to swim away from the captain excepting him to follow me but when I turned around he wasn't, he seemed to be deep in thought "are ya alright?" I questioned swimming back towards him, "um...kwazii do remember anything special about today?" The captain questioned, I know what he's asking about but I have to keep the surprise..well, a surprise "no not at all, why?" I asked in fake confusement, "no reason" barnacles replied shrugging his shoulders, "let's swim around and see what kind of creatures live on this rocky reef" he added swimming off, I sighed before following, this may be trickier than I thought
