Converging Destinies: Part 1

Chapter 17

       The four were once again gathered in the girls' room as they had so many times before. Ara' Sei and Ella looked at each other, silently deciding who would be the next person to speak.

       "Well, we have another six days before we can leave. But, me and Ara' Sei were talking about future plans! Ara' Sei has a very good idea of where she wants to go!" Ella explained loudly before looking to Ara' Sei.

       "So, I believe I have some explaining to do. From time to time I have visions, and for a long time now I've been following these visions. They are what prompted me to travel to Cresselbrooke. Just a little while ago, I had a vision telling me to go to Duskholme. So, I believe that me and Ella agreed we were going there." Ara' Sei continued.

       "Ara' Sei, you receive insightful visions and have radiant power. What are you?" Eris asked.

       "Oh, okay, I didn't expect this conversation to go there. But you all have to explain who you are as well." Ara' Sei said. The three others nodded in response.

       "I am an individual who was born with divine power, of course, this means I am obligated to do certain things with the time that I am here." Ara' Sei explained.

       "Oh, uh, I'll go next. I have trained in The Northern Woods to gain certain druidic powers." Cedric continued.

       "Hello! I'm a mercenary, I've been paid to fight and kill people for over forty years." Ella added.

       "I have limited arcane capability, and I know how to kill things." Eris finished.

       "Alright, now that's out of the way. What's important is whether or not you two are coming." Ara' Sei said to Cedric and Eris.

       "I'm willing to go with you, under the condition that we don't go to mainland Norda." Cedric explained.

       "I'm willing to go with you as long as we don't set foot anywhere near eastern Sathun." Eris said.

       "Is our plan to go to Duskholme once we get our money final?" Ara' Sei asked. Everyone else nodded in agreement.

       "Then, in six days, we head to Duskholme. I think the best way to do that would be to travel Northwest two hundred miles to Aaronsworth before taking a ship to Duskholme." Ara' Sei declared.

       "Very well!" Ella agreed.

       The next six days felt somewhat slow. Cresselbrooke was a small. Several of them weren't expecting to spend so much time there. However, after six days they collected their payment and split it, leaving each of them with over sixty gold pieces. After that, Ella asked the guards if she could keep her armor. They agreed as long as she gave them her gold in return. Then, the group finally left the small fishing village of Cresselbrooke in order to chase a vision.

Author's Note: At this point, the characters have levelled up from level 4 to level 5. For spellcasters, this brings 3rd level spells, which are very powerful. Every two levels (until level 17) spellcasters gain access to more and more powerful spells. This is how full casters in dungeons and dragons function. While Eris is a spellcaster, they are not a full caster, and they follow their own rules regarding when they acquire more powerful spells.
