Eris and Cedric began to walk back towards the group after having their conversation. But, they saw a blue light illuminating the grass around them, and they turned around.
The tower of the Atheiran cathedral was glowing with blue light, as it had every time before a message was delivered to the whole town of Oarshear.
"This message is addressed to the final remaining adversaries of Aaron Servilus, the rightful ruler of Oarshear. We have someone who is very precious to you. But, unless all of you turn yourselves in at Aaron's manor by tomorrow at noon, she will be publicly executed." The message said. Then, the glow of the tower died back down.
Everyone in the group looked at one another with a look of horror.
"We need a plan, now." Zerai said. Everyone agreed.
"So, what should we do?" Cedric asked.
"We need to act by tomorrow at noon, so we should get up as early as possible." Roya said.
"We definitely should. We also need to rescue Ara' Sei." Zerai added.
"I can use stealth, and I have tools for lockpicking. I should be the one to go rescue her." Eris said.
"Are you sure?" Cedric asked. Eris nodded.
"Well, I have a spell I can give you early tomorrow that'll let you climb walls." Cedric said.
"That'll be perfect." Eris replied.
"So, Eris should definitely leave first. What are the rest of us going to do?" Ella asked.
"The other goal is to stop Aaron, and we need to keep him from stopping Eris. We should fight him." Zerai said.
"I agree, he needs to be stopped." Roya said.
"So, first, I'll give Eris a spell to help them get in. But, how are we going to get in?" Cedric asked.
"I have my spell that lets three people fly, and you can turn into a massive bird. I think we'll be able to get in that way." Zerai said.
"We've been to his manor before, we can fly there, and fight him there as well." Ella said.
"Eris, when you see the fight start, that should be your signal to sneak in." Cedric said. Eris nodded.
"Yup, I can do that." Eris said.
"What kind of magic should I prepare for tomorrow?" Cedric asked.
"The usual for helping us survive out here, but the rest should be for combat." Zerai said.
"I will also prepare to fight." Roya said.
"Ok, so we're all in agreement in regards to the plan?" Zerai asked. Everyone nodded.
"We need rest to get up early, make sure to wake up on time." Ella said.
"I'll take care of that." Cedric said. Then, everyone went to sleep to the best of their ability.
Silently, Eris stared at their former home. They could smell the smoke from yesterday's fire still in the air. A few tears welled in their eyes. They had failed to kill Aaron several months prior, and now the city was in flames. It was what they had always feared throughout their childhood. All of Aaron's scheming and plotting and zealous gathering of arcane power could only lead to this. Eris sighed and turned away.
They may have failed before.
But they knew Ara' Sei wouldn't.
