Zerai pointed his blade at the guard. The sword glowed, and then two blasts of radiant power blasted from the tip of the blade and sailed through the air towards the guard. The first skimmed the man's arm, hardly doing a thing. The second impacted his shoulder, but it still didn't have enough of an impact. Ara' Sei lifted her hand weakly. Radiant fire manifested around the guard, scorching him. With a scream of agony, the guard dropped his sword and his body fell to the ground.
"Hey!"
"Alright, we can't fight the whole town guard. Go!" Zerai instructed. The group began to run. Ara' Sei was able to sit upward on Cedric's back. Eris kept up with the horse with their almost supernatural speed. Behind were Zerai and Ella. Behind them still were several town guards, running and shouting.
With her arms stretched to the sky, Ara' Sei called a blade of light into existence. The blade struck one of the guards, and foolishly the guards behind them attempted to fight it.
"What...now?" Ara' Sei asked weakly.
"We can't go to the slums, we need to get to the forest." Zerai shouted. Cedric, remembering where the forest was, corrected his course. The others followed behind him. Ara' Sei continued to hurl spears of flame at the guards that trailed them. The guards soon were forced to slow down, as many of them were too injured to fight. After a few minutes, the group made it to the edge of the forest. Cedric transformed back into his normal form.
"I don't have much of my powerful magic. But there's something I could do that could get us some shelter if we go deeper in." Cedric explained.
"Well, let's go then!" Zerai said. The group began to advance into the woods. After around fifteen minutes of uphill climb through the forest, the group collapsed. Even though it was sparse, it was uphill.
"Alright, after this I'll only be able to use my powerful magic one more time, so please, use this wisely." Cedric said. He placed both of his hands upon the floor, and for this spell, he spoke in a language that anyone would know.
"Forest, I call thee forward, grow, grow, grow." As Cedric spoke, his hands glowed with emerald light. The trees grew taller and their branches grew outward. The grass became taller and more lush. Tangles of growth formed. Soon, Cedric had created a semicircle wall of natural growth that faced towards Duskholme. Cedric then collapsed to the floor with his limbs splayed out.
"Okay, give me a moment, and I'll be able to recover some of the power that I used. Just in case more come." Cedric explained. Cedric staggered beneath a now lush tree and began to meditate. Zerai walked over to him, and placed his hand on Cedric. Cedric's body began to glow with golden light, and many of his wounds began to heal. Zerai then walked over towards Ella and did the same for her.
"Oh, thanks friend. It's good to know that several of my friends can mend wounds." Ella said.
"Such is the nature of my purpose. I couldn't do it without a few... advantages." The group rested for an hour. And then waited for a few hours. When no threat came, they retreated into the now lush plant growth and used it as cover for sleep. The day was over, and they could finally rest.
