By the time they escaped, it was mid afternoon. They walked about half a mile away from the grove before Cedric magically manipulated the plants around them to obscure their presence.
"So. What did we learn?" Zerai asked.
"It's a green dragon, it uses poison as its weapon. Any poison attacks against it are useless." Eris said.
"I have a spell that can help you all resist most of the poisonous effects with ease. I just didn't know I would be fighting a dragon that used poison." Cedric said.
"Are you able to use it on all of us?" Ara' Sei asked.
"It would take a bit of magic, but yes, I can do that." Cedric said.
"Very well, that'll be useful when we fight it again. Another thing, it's clear we can't sneak up on this thing, we're gonna need another plan." Zerai said.
"In other words, we need a different way of getting in." Eris clarified. Zerai nodded.
"Exactly." He said.
"Zerai, I think you could help with that since you have that spell that lets us fly." Ara' Sei said. Zerai nodded. Eris looked to Cedric.
"And you can turn into an eagle to carry me." Eris said to Cedric.
"Yeah, I could definitely do that." Cedric said.
"So wait, what's the order that all of this is happening in?" Ella asked.
"Well, it'll take me a bit to cast the poison protection on all of you, so we should do it before we enter. It lasts for an hour, so we should be okay." Cedric said.
"Okay, so Cedric will give us all poison protection. Then, Cedric and I will fly us all in close to the center. We'll find out where the dragon's lair is and fight it in there." Zerai said.
"As powerful as the dragon will be there, it'll be harder for it to fly away from us. It'll be easier for Ella and I to attack it, and it'll make it so it can't just hit and run with its poison breath." Eris explained.
"Alright, so we're all in agreement on the plan?" Ara' Sei asked. Everyone glanced around, and there were no objections.
"Okay, let's get some rest tonight. Tomorrow, we kill this dragon!" Ella said. Everyone nodded in agreement. In the final hour before evening set, Cedric travelled through the forest with Ella to find berries or other edible plants. Within a half hour, Cedric had found a few wild berries that were safe to eat.
The group ended up sleeping beneath the shelter of plants Cedric had created. It wasn't too much different from the bramble domes back in Sanctuary Grove.
Cedric relived the memories of being with his teacher when he was younger. She was there when he first performed druidic magic, making a flower bloom upon command. She had been there when his parents had left. She had been there for several years.
But then she was gone, all because of the dragon they would all face the following day.
