Converging Destinies: Part 1

Chapter 161

       Thanks to the magic that Cedric had cast, the poison's edge had been greatly reduced. But, it still felt like fire in the group's lungs and eyes, except for Cedric.

       Eris was the first to respond. They immediately slit off away from the group, moving away with incredible speed. Then, they drew a crackling glyph into the air and released it. A crackling bolt of lightning erupted from the glyph towards the dragon.

       The dragon stepped to the side, and most of the bolt reflected off its thick scales.

       Deep within the dragon's mouth was a green glow. Then, from its mouth, another cloud of poison erupted. Everyone in the group besides Eris was once again consumed by the poison cloud. This cloud was far more potent than the last, but Cedric's magic protected them against a bulk of its effect.

       Then, the dragon flew to the other side of the massive cavern and landed on the other outcropping.

       Zerai stepped forward and pointed his blade forward. Three bolts of light erupted from the tip of the blade and sailed towards the dragon. All but one of the bolts bounced off the dragon's thick, shiny green scales.

       Ara' Sei pointed her arm forwards and let light flow into her arm. Over the next few seconds, her whole body began to glow and her arm began to shake. Then, the whole cavern flashed with white light as a beam erupted from Ara' Sei's hand.

       Part of the beam was reflected off, but a massive black burn now scarred the dragon, and it roared with pain.

       "Nice!" Ella congratulated.

       Cedric stepped forward and pulled out a golden wand with a pulsing red ruby at its tip. The tip of the wand glowed, and a beam of red flew towards the dragon. The dragon was engulfed in a fiery explosion, and it roared with pain once again.

       Ella stood near Ara' Sei with her blade at the ready.

       "It's not happy with you two, I'll attack it if it comes near." Ella said.

       Eris took a deep breath and began to draw another crackling glyph into midair. Then, Eris released the glyphs energy into a bolt of lightning that extended from the glyph and struck the dragon. The bolt struck the dragon and it reeled back in pain.

       The dragon took off from the outcropping and flew towards Ara' Sei. Then, its head lunged forward towards her. The massive heat bit into Ara' Sei's arm, and Ara' Sei felt venom course through her. Crimson immediately spilled out onto the floor.

       Ella stepped forward and swung her blade at the dragon's neck. The blade cut a few inches into the neck, but it was difficult to pierce the dragon's scales.

       Ara' Sei saw two talons fly out towards her. The first cut across her chest, and the second cut across her leg. Sprays of blood were scattered across the floor around her, and Ara' Sei became dizzy.

       Zerai charged forwards towards the dragon with his glowing blade at the ready. The first strike bounced off the dragon's scales, but the second found purchase, and the dragon roared.

       Suddenly, the dragon's tail whirled around and slammed into Ara' Sei.

       Then, the ivy all around the three grew towards them and wrapped around them. All of them could feel thorns digging into them as the ivy constricted them. Ara' Sei's eyes rolled back as more blood poured from her wounds.

       All of them were pushed away from the dragon by the wall of ivy.

       Cedric looked at the three of them and immediately saw Ara' Sei's condition. Cedric muttered a word under his breath and her body briefly glowed with emerald light, and her wounds stopped bleeding.

       Then, a flame appeared above Cedric's hand and flew towards the dragon. The flame singed the dragon, but on its own it didn't do much harm. The dragon growled and with a beat of its wings a blast of wind erupted outwards. The dragon, covered in wounds from the group's various spells, began to fly away towards the hole in the ceiling of the cavern.

       As Ella stood up from being pushed away by vines, she smiled. The dragon was running away, and it was clearly hurt.
