The older woman braced for impact, but nothing could prepare her for this. As one of the figures touched her, she felt cold, then faint, then dreadful. She could barely hold her greatsword after both of them struck, and she felt injured, but not in a normal way. She looked down at the places where she had been struck, and the flesh was black and nasty. She chuckled.
"So that's what these things are about eh?"
The next to strike was the mysterious figure with green skin. In a flash, a shining dagger was in the half orc's hand as they lunged at one of the horrific abominations. Their dagger went through its target. Had they been fully material, it would have been a great hit, but it hardly bothered the thing.
"Well... lovely." The half orc said. The half orc then ran to the other side of a room in a flash before the thing could strike them.
Then, the other cloaked figure reacted. They outstretched their hand and opened their palm, a flame appearing above it as they muttered an incantation. Then, they pointed at the abomination that had already been hit. The flame streaked directly past the creature, and it scorched a part of the worn wooden walls.
The girl with flowing blonde hair then stepped towards the creature. Her hair began to flail. Her eyes glowed with light. Her hand outstretched towards the creature. She whispered an unheard word and clenched her hand. Bright white flames burst, seemingly from within the creature. Silently, it flailed in incredible pain. The creature was dispersed by the sheer power of the blow. The other one still stood there at the ready.
Then, the older woman picked up her blade. She seemed to have troubled doing so, and was still visibly shaken by the attacks that she had suffered. With a shout, she raised her greatsword and swung it with incredible force. It cleaved through the creature, visibly hurting it. The greatsword then made a loud thudding noise as it collided with the wooden wall, sinking several inches in.
"Huh, it's not dead?!" The older woman rolled her eyes and began dislodging her sword from the wall. The creature reared back, silently staring at her with its cold, dark pits of eyes. Then, it reached its hand for her, and stroked the back of her neck. The older woman screamed in pain. She immediately went pale. She began hyperventilating as her hand clutched the back of her neck. The half-orc returned the abomination the favor. The dagger sank into the creature's neck, and with an almost silent wail, it vanished into nothing.
"Are you alright?" the cloaked elf with brown hair asked. The older woman nodded. But the elf had already placed his hand on the wound. He muttered a few words. His hand glowed emerald green. The other two could have sworn they saw a few plants germinating from his hands. But, as he lifted his hand, the black wound on the back of her neck was gone.
"Oh, that wasn't needed, but thank you. Thank all of you! Goodness, well! Good news, we can go back, and the drink's on me!" The older woman explained happily. The four walked back to the tavern, this time together, and sat down at the same table.
