Converging Destinies: Part 1

Chapter 79

       Eris leapt away behind a rock. After a few seconds, a dagger flew at the massive demon and stuck into its side. Despite being a good hit, the demon didn't seem bothered by it much.

       Ella charged forward with her blade in hand.

       "Hello there! Let's fight, haha!" Ella shouted gleefully. Her first hit cleaved the demon's leg, sending glowing red blood everywhere. It was boiling hot, and it burned Ella as it splattered on her. She whirled around for another hit, but it glanced off the demon's hide. Then, she slashed into the demon's leg once more.

       Ara' Sei pointed at the demon, and let a beacon build within her arm. She let the light flow to her fingertips, then, she released it. The beacon slammed into its face, and a residual glowing light was left behind. The demon growled, and its growling shook the very ground.

       Cedric placed his hands together and began to whisper. A pale pillar of light appeared that shone upon the massive demon. The demon seemed unbothered, but it was burned by the pale flames.

       Seeing what happened to Ella, Zerai instead pointed his blade at the demon, and two glowing bolts emerged from the swords and flew at the demon.

       The demon looked around and roared, everyone had to cover their ears. The demon's very presence burned Ella. Then, with one flap of its wings, it took to the sky. It flew towards Eris. Eris tried to run, but the fiery whip lashed out and wrapped around them. They were yanked up to the demon thirty feet in the air. As they were pulled up, the demon slashed them with its crackling blade. Eris fell to the ground, and was able land properly to avoid the full force of the fall. The demon landed away from Eris back on the ice, its impact sending cracks through the frozen sea.

       Eris stood back up, but backed away from the demon towards the rest of the group. Ella charged towards the demon, but the demon had landed far away from her.

       Ara' Sei pointed her finger at the demon, and let another beacon build within her hands. Then the light flowed and focused on her fingertip. Then, it flew. It was a blinding streak of light that flew towards the demon with unfathomable speed. However, it merely ricocheted off the demon's natural armor-like hide.

       Cedric dismissed his pillar of light with frustration before running towards the demon. Seeing Eris' injured state, he muttered a word and vitality rushed into Eris.

       "Thanks." Eris said, smiling at Cedric.

       Zerai began to slowly approach the demon. He pointed his sword forward, and two glowing bolts flew from it at the demon. One of the bolts slammed into the demon's eye, sending it reeling back a few steps. Then, the sword glowed with golden light, and Eris' body glowed as more of their wounds healed.

       The demon took the sky once again, flying over the group. Ara' Sei gasped in horror as she realized who the demon was flying towards.

       "Oh no." She whispered. The fiery whip hit her first. It stung and it seared her, then the world rushed passed as she was yanked towards the demon. Then, the blade hit her. Her whole body convulsed into a ball as the electricity pulsed through her. Then, still convulsing, she fell. She landed on her back, knocking the wind out of her. Her whole world was blurry, and she saw nothing but the demon flying above her. She couldn't shout, she couldn't move. What was she going to do?
