Cedric ran back to Eris and Ella frantically, knowing their fight was upon them.
"Eris, I think you missed something, we have company. And Ella, you'll be fighting, you'll need this." Cedric placed his hand on Ella's shoulder. With a few words and an emerald glow, Ella's skin transformed. Her skin became hard and rough and uneven.
"My skin... is tree bark?" Ella asked.
"Yes, it'll protect you, now we have a fight upon us!" With that, the three ran into the graveyard.
"I'll stay back, I need to focus on the spell I put on Ella."
"I'll hide, and strike the moment things get rough." Eris said. After which, they vanished behind a gravestone. As Ella and Cedric looked around, Cedric could six figures. Three were like the things they had faced in their last encounter. The other three walked in a jagged, unnatural way.
"Alright Ella, be ready for battle." The undead began to sprint forwards, engaging onto Cedric and Ella. Suddenly, a spectral sword of light appeared in the air above one of the shadowy figures. With a vertical strike from above, the blade of light cleaved into the creature, causing it to wail and screech. The screech was more heard in one's mind than through one's ears. On the roof of the chapel, Ella and Cedric could see Ara' Sei with her arms outstretched and eyes aglow. Her body flashed with light, and radiant fire was conjured around the abomination. However, the shadow now knew where the danger was, and was able to evade the white flames.
Then, the undead bore down upon Cedric and Ella. One of the zombies slammed it's withered, decaying fists into Ella. But, its next swing was clumsy and ill thought, and Ella was able to deflect it off her shoulder.
"Weak!" She shouted with a laugh. Then, one of the shadow figures placed its hand on the back of her neck. With a scream of pain she pulled away, and that same, sickening feeling came over her.
One of the zombies lurched towards Cedric, but with a punch to its arm the zombie's attack was knocked off course. But, one of the shadow creatures grabbed Cedric's other arm, and his hand became pale and almost limp as the thing's touch began withering him. Cedric's entire forearm was now blackened, and his eyes were wide with fear. His adrenaline pumped, and the other shadowy creature's attack almost appeared in slow motion. He was able to jump to the side before it hit him.
"That the best these things got?!" Ella shouted. She steeled herself against the blows she had received. She swung her blade against one of the zombies that had assailed her, striking against its outline in the darkness. The blade dug through the zombies flesh, sending decaying guts flying. Then, she raised her blade high above her head and brought it down in one massive arc. But the pain she was feeling overcame her for a second, and her blow hit the dirt next to the zombie.
"Crap!" Ella cursed.
Then, a dagger flew from the darkness towards the zombie that Ella had counterattacked. The dagger lodged itself into the creature's head, and the creature fell to the ground, slain. Ella laughed, finally something good had happened.
