Eris ran forward, and with a muttered word they disappeared and reappeared next to the dragon. Its stomach was vulnerable and exposed from their position. They plunged their usual magical dagger deep into the dragon's stomach, and black, bubbling blood came pouring out.

The dragon roared and flapped its wings. A massive gust of wind rushed from beneath the creature's wings. Eris and Cedric were flung back. Both of them were sent through the fine, gray dust. Cedric groaned as the dust coated his gashes. The dragon rushed from the ground and began flying upwards.

Brie carved the same glyph into the air as the dragon flew upwards. She aimed for the base of the wing and fired a pale blue ray from the glyph. But, only a few crystals coated the dragon, and it didn't seem to have much effect.

Cedric frantically reached for his wand. He pointed it upwards at the dragon, which was now flying upwards. The tip of the wand glowed with power, and a bead of red light was sent flying at the dragon's stomach. The explosion engulfed the dragon's vulnerable stomach, and the creature curled to defend itself.

The dragon's head turned to Eris, and its throat glowed with purple energy. A bolt of glowing purple lightning fired at Eris. The lightning itself seemed to be laced with ethereal shadows as it shot towards Eris. They dove out of the way, and were able to avoid the full force. Their ring flashed with energy as the bolt hit, and the impact was less severe.

"See! It was useful!" They shouted.

Ella cursed under her breath as the dragon flew back upwards. She stood at the ready, unsure what to do.

Ara' Sei was finally able to break the magical influence, but it took all her effort to do so.

Zerai was also able to shatter the influence. Now, everyone was back in the fight. Eris leapt away from the dragon. It was clear their lightning wouldn't be of any use here.

Brie carved the same glyph as before, and she was breathing heavily. It hit the dragon to no effect.

"Damn I wish I'd studied that explosion spell this morning!" Brie shouted.

The tip of Cedric's wand glowed once again, and another explosion was sent hurtling at the dragon. However, this time, the dragon seemed strangely unbothered.

The dragon swooped down right onto Cedric. Its jaws flew forward and its two front feet stomped on Cedric's body.

Cedric was on the verge of consciousness, and his eyes were barely open. Blood was pooling around him.

       "Cedric!" Eris screamed.

Ella came charging forward with her blade at full speed. One fluid strike hit the dragon, sending some of its own black blood onto the ground. But, it had taken all of Ella's speed just to get over to them.

Suddenly, the creature's tail came impacting on top of Cedric, and his eyes rolled back. Ara' Sei let the light flow into her arms. She let it flow and flow and flow to the point it was searing. Steam began rising from her arms by the time she released the power.

The whole scene was illuminated white. The dragon, Cedric's body, the gray dunes, and everyone else on the battlefield.

When the light faded, one of the dragon's glowing eyes was now a blackened hole. Its head slumped forward, and the creature collapsed to the ground. Its body slowly began crumbling into dust, and the battle was over.

Author's Note: I just discovered that I was not reading the description of the Disintegrate Spell incorrectly. I thought it would still do half damage on a successful saving throw. For the sake of consistency, I will continue to write it this way. Sorry if it has been really off putting, thank you for your understanding!
