The group continued to run, desperately trying to find a way to slip out of sight. Then, they saw it, a group of fifteen guards in front of them. One of them was an orcish man who wielded a massive greataxe and bore heavy armor.

Three guards pursued each member of the group. The guard captain and two others went for Ella.

Cedric took one jab to the stomach and another to the leg. Ella took two hits to her arms, and the guard captain brought his battleaxe down upon her shoulder and another into her side. Eris sidestepped two of the blows and glanced the third blow off their hip. Ara' Sei took three blows before stumbling away, bleeding. Zerai parried the first attack against them, but was hit by the other two.

Ara' Sei was the first to strike back. She could clearly see that the guard captain was the biggest threat. She extended her hand towards the guard captain and let the light flow through her. Although painful, the feeling was exhilarating. Before the guards could stop her, a beam of light cut through the fray and rammed into the guard captain. The entire street was turned white with the brightness of the light.

When the light faded, the guard captain had been turned to dust that scattered in the light wind. The guards looked at Ara' Sei, horrified. Ella smiled with glee and amazement before cutting down her assailants with three slashes from her blade.

Suddenly, Eris vanished in a puff of mist. Their assailants looked around in confusion, but as far as they knew, Eris was gone.

With two strikes in rapid succession, Zerai overwhelmed one of his foes before preparing to turn onto his other attacker. With a brief incantation, Ara' Sei's body glowed with golden light, and some of her wounds were healed.

Cedric leapt back and crouched, placing his hands on the ground. After a brief incantation, the very rock itself burst up violently upon the three guards. After being thrown back, two of the guards didn't get up, only one of them did.

The guards regathered themselves before continuing their assault. Six of the guards swarmed Ara' Sei after seeing how dangerous she was. Two of them went after Zerai, and one went after Cedric.

All but two of the hits landed on Ara' Sei. She rapidly became dizzy as blood poured from more wounds than she could count.

As one strike hit Zerai, his blade became covered with radiant fire and as he swung his blade a blast annihilated the guard. He took another jab to the leg.

Cedric was able to sidestep the spear that the guard thrust at him.

Ara' Sei took deep breaths, trying to regather herself after the dizziness hit her. Then, in an act of desperation, she reached her hand up straight for the sky. A flaming pillar slammed down upon her and the six guards around her. The guards that surrounded her were instantly incinerated. But she was able to resist the divine power of her own magic, and she was surprisingly unharmed by the blast.

From a nearby alleyway, a dagger flew into the head of one of the remaining two guards. The guard was instantly knocked to the ground. Then, Ella cut down the last guard, and none of the fifteen were left. However, the group could already hear the clattering armor of more guards, and they barely had a moment to regather themselves.
