I make them close their eyes and I grab the coveralls, putting them on the boxes in front of them. I arrange them so one of them shows the sleeves, while another shows the back. The last one shows the front as usual.
"Okay, open them," I say. They open them and look at me, blinking a few times. I point to the coveralls and they look down, gasping and putting a hand on them.
"Where did you get these," Corey asks.
"The box with the weird heels. I took them out so I could show you guys after," I say, Sid smiling.
"Can I wear one of these on stage tomorrow? I want to see if the fans notice," Sid asks.
"Oh, sure. Are you sure you're going to fit," I ask, him picking up the red one and holding it to his chest.
"We're the same height and we're both skinny, I think I'll fit like I usually do," he says.
"I trust you with my gift," I say, ruffling his nonexistent hair.
-night-
I put my boxes above Joey's bunk and pick out the fake blood platforms for tomorrow. I close the box and step down to the floor, setting the boots next to my bag.
"Everybody ready for bed," I ask, all of them getting in their bunks and covering up. I'm in my pajamas, which were just a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt. I slide into my bunk and cover up, rolling over so I could see Corey and Shawn.
"Night guys," I say, closing my eyes.
"Night Liz," all of them say in unison, making me smile.
---time skip---
I feel the bus jerk over, so I open my eyes and get out of bed, standing and walking to the front. I move the curtain over a little and peek in, knocking lightly on the wood.
"Oh, it's just you," the driver says, sighing.
"Are you okay, I felt the bus jerk over a couple minutes ago," I ask, sitting in the passenger seat.
"I'm just tired. Hey, are the guys asleep," he asks.
"Yeah. They're fast asleep now," I say, him sighing happily.
"Good. I need to take a bathroom break and sleep. Can you drive," he asks, me saying I would.
He unbuckles and I take the wheel, putting my bare foot on the pedal as he slowly stands up. I sit in his spot and he buckles me up, leaving the front and using the bathroom. He comes back and sits in the passenger seat, asking if it's okay to sleep here. I say he can and he quickly falls asleep, leaving me to drive. I check the gas meter and it's full, making me smile and focus on the road.
-morning-
I park and turn the engine off, making the driver wake up with a start.
"Are we here," he asks.
I nod and unbuckle, leaving to wake up the guys. I change into a black sweatshirt and black jeans, putting on my boots and looking at myself in the full length mirror. I nod once and crouch down to Corey's bunk, poking his stomach and leaning back. He attempts to grab my neck, but takes a swipe and hits his own face.
"Time to get up," I say in a sing-song voice.
"Fuck off," he grumbles, turning over.
"You leave me no choice," I say, putting my cold fingers on the back of his neck. He squirms and jumps out of bed, swatting my hand off.
"How are your hands so fucking cold all the time," he asks.
Shawn jumps down and wakes up Sid by hitting him with his pillow. Sid rolls over and looks at me, then jumps down next to me. I turn to Joey and he has a hand over the edge, like he's reaching down to my bunk. I walk over and grab his hand, tugging on it. He grips it and lets go, jumping out of bed next to me.
"When did you get taller," Joey asks, looking up at my face.
"Platforms. I like these, but I have no idea if I'm going to scuff them," I say.
I look down at my boots and wiggle my foot to make the blood slosh around. I cover my eyes as they change into their plain clothes and leaves. I follow and they go to a coffee shop, while I catch up to Ari, who's sitting on the edge of the stage and sipping a coffee. I sit next to her and she smiles, asking me about the coveralls.
"So, did you try them," she asks.
I shake my head at her question and swing my feet, seeing the guys coming back with their coffees, all nine of them. Sid hands me a coffee and I thank him, all of them walking backstage to converse there.
"What do you mean you didn't try them," she asks.
"I'll explain that later. But, I think you should stay when they walk out. You'll see what I mean," I say. She nods and looks at my swinging feet, smiling.
"Cool, blood shoes," she says, making me laugh.
"Did you get everything set up," I ask, looking behind me. Everything's set up and ready, and the stage's to Slipknot's liking.
"Great," I say, giving a thumbs up to her.
"Liz, you need to see this," Corey says, grabbing my hand and running backstage.
