It has been a week. A whole week since that awful day. The day that a very special person left the world.
Yashiro Nene.
There was no stopping it. She was diagnosed with throat cancer, and the operation was expensive.
Obviously, a lot of her friends and family took it hard, but none if them did as much as a certain spirit did.
Hanako sat on the bathroom windowsill, staring out the glass pane. He hasn't talked since Yashiro's passing. He looked at the bathroom floor, and how clean it was.
"Yashiro cleaned this floor", Hanako thought. "It should not be walked on. Not while I'm still here."
Hanako floated around the school, since there was nothing for him to do. He looked at the students with a disappointed face.
"One of your schoolmates died. How could you all act so normal?"
Hanako continued with his exploring, until he heard something that caught his attention. "Have you heard?" "Heard what?" Hanako searched for the source of the voices and found two girls talking.
"The Fairy of the School Garden." "What's that?" "Someone has been tending to the plants and vegetables in the gardening club after school hours. One of the students in this school said they saw a girl with wings do it and that she looked like a fairy." "If she's helping the plants grow, then she mustn't be so bad."
Hanako became curious. "A new spirit? I wasn't notified of this. Oh well, since I have nothing better to do, I might as well go say hi to this 'Fairy of the School Garden' this afternoon."
The school day came to an end, and, as he planned, Hanako flew to the gardening club. When he arrived, he saw the Mokke's carrying garden tools. "What are you guys doing?" "Helping the Fairy." "Do you know where I can find her?" The pink rabbit creative pointed at the flower bushes with its ear.
Hanako saw two pairs of wings attached to a girl. He walked closer to her. "Hi there." The fairy jumped a bit. "H-Hanako?" "Yes, that's me. And you are?" The Fairy slowly turned her head, making Hanako speechless.
The Fairy had red eyes, with white hair that was teal at the tips. Hanako felt a foreign emotion taking control of his body. An emotion he didn't feel in a long time. Happiness. But he had to be sure. "Is it... really you? Are you... Yashiro Nene?" The Fairy nodded, while a smile grew on her face. The smile one would get when meeting someone you haven't seen in a long time.
Hanako couldn't hold back. He let the tears fall out of his eyes, and leaped towards Yashiro. He hugged her tightly, not wanting to let her go. "But why? Why are you here? I thought you were happy with your life?" "I was. But not completely. I was still missing something." Hanako pulled out of the hug to look at Yashiro. "What was it?" "You." Before the toilet ghost could ask, he felt two hands cup his face and soft lips touch his.
"I love you, Hanako." Hanako was speechless, but placed his hand on her's which was on his cheek. "I love you too." They then shared another kiss, while the Mokke's watched and awed.
