Atsushi looked at the clock, then out the window. "Kyouka, where are you?", he said to himself. His girlfriend, Kyouka, was supposed to be home by now, but she was obviously running a bit late.
The door opened, and the weretiger ran to it to see that his girlfriend had returned. "Kyouka! Where have you been?" "Nowhere."
Suddenly, a small sound was heard. A mew, to be precise. Atsushi lowered his gaze to Kyouka stomach and saw it was a little bigger. "Kyouka, what are you hiding?" "Nothing."Another mew, this time combined with movement under Kyouka's kimono. The girl sighed and pulled the object out from her clothes. It was an orange kitten with black spots and a white underbelly. It appeared to be at least a year old.
"I found her in a box in an alleyway. I couldn't just leave her there", said Kyouka, with her usual monotone voice. But Atsushi could see the care in her eyes.
"Kyouka, having a pet isn't an easy job. You have to feed it, clean it..." "I will do all those things." Atsushi looked at the kitten, and it looked back. Its eyes were green, and appeared to be pleading. With all his might, Atsushi tried to resist, but failed, and gave in to the kitten's cuteness. "What's her name?" Kyouka was shocked.
"If we're going to keep her, she's at least going to need a name." Kyouka looked down at the cat, then at her boyfriend. "Kiki." "Why?" "Her eye color reminds me of trees."
Atsushi looked at the kitten and scratched behind her ear. "Kiki it is. Welcome to your new home, little girl." Kiki mewed in response.
Kyouka looked at Atsushi and kissed him on the cheek. He looked at her, but not quick enough for she already started playing with her new pet.
