Takagi sat on the edge of her bed, looking at the object in her hand, while her other hand clasped her mouth. Tears began to well up in her eyes. "What am I going to tell Nishikata?"
Nishikata greeted his girlfriend one morning, only for her to stay silent and walk out the door. "Strange. What's wrong with her?"
Takagi stopped her car in front of a house. She climbed out and walked up to the front door, knocking on it.
A woman with short black hair holding a baby opened it. "Takagi?" "Hey, Mano." Mano noticed something was wrong with her friend. "Come in."
The two women sat in the living room, beginning their conversation. "Okay, What's wrong?" Takagi looked down and took a deep breath.
"I'm... pregnant." Mano's eyes widened. "It's Nishikata's." Mano then became confused. "Why are you upset? I thought you loved Nishikata? Weren't you the one talking about marrying him one day and having kids with him."
"I know that, but we're not married yet! And what if he decides to leave me?!" Mano's baby let out a small whimper as she rocked him side to side. "Okay, calm down. I take it Nishikata doesn't know?" Takagi shook her head.
"What will you do with the baby?" Takagi rubbed her hand against her stomach. "Honestly, I want to keep it." "But what about Nishikata? If you're going to keep this a secret from him, that's not going to be easy. Eventually, hiding your pregnancy isn't going to be possible."
"I know."
Mano sighed. "Don't you think Nishikata needs to know? He has every right to, after all." Takagi nodded. "I know." Mano stood up and walked over to her friend.
"How about this: tell him what's going on, and if things don't go well, I'll kick him in the balls for you. Deal?"
Takagi managed to form a smile. "Thanks Mano." "Any time."
Nishikata heard the door open and peeked out to see Takagi walking in. "Takagi?" "Hey. Can we talk?" Nishikata saw the look on his girlfriend's face and knew that this was serious. "Okay."
The couple sat next to each other. "Nishikata, do you remember what we did two nights ago?" Nishikata blushed and nodded. "We had... yeah. What about it?" Takagi couldn't hold back anymore. Tears burst from her eyes as she broke down crying.
"Hey hey! What's the matter?" "I'm so sorry Nishikata!" "What?" "I'm pregnant! I'm pregnant with your child!"
Silence filled the room, except for Takagi's sniffling.
Nishikata stood up. Takagi shut her eyes tight, ready for any physical abuse she would receive. Instead, she got nothing. Nishikata crouched down in front of her. "How far in are you?" "I just found out this morning."
"Okay. First off, we're gonna need to buy a lot of food, you know, for the cravings, and then check if you have any suitable clothes."
Takagi was confused. "You're not mad?" "Why would I be mad? I get have a kid with the most amazing woman in the world!"
Takagi was brought to tears. This time, they were happy tears. "I love you Nishikata." "I love you too." The two lovers shared a deep kiss. Nishikata then looked at his girlfriend's stomach. "And I love you too."
