Finding the Avatar: Water (Bnha x Avatar reader insert)

Chapter fifty-six

     "Hey, Izuku!" You walked up to your friend who was watching the match between Bakugo and Kirishima. Down below the two duked it out, the crowd cheering around you. And yet somehow the space the two of you occupied seemed closed off. "I'm surprised to see you here. Are you ok?" 

"Yeah, I'm fine. Congrats on winning, sorry I wasn't able to see it." He said. "Hey, since I'm out of the competition can you tell me about your quirk?"

     "Of course! I can control the four base elements of water, earth, fire and air. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet, but I'll get there. I've been working really hard lately." You quickly filled him in. "Iida told me you recently discovered your quirk. I can't believe I didn't know that." 

     "Oh, yeah. It looks like we're in the same boat." He grinned sheepishly. On the battlefield it looked like Bakugo was going to take the win. "Is your brother really your cousin?" 

     "Yes. Our parents are kind of dead so we live with our grandmother. It's easier to just say we're siblings." Izuku immediately got this look on his face. You had seen it before. "It's fine. Don't worry about it." You tried to give him a reassuring smile. 

      "Kirishima has been knocked out. Bakugo is the winner!" Midnight called the end to the match going on during your conversation and you sighed as Present Mic announced the final four competitors, You, Todoroki, Iida, and Bakugo. 

     "Wow, guess I have to go again. That was fast." You turned to walk away and saw Iida approaching the two of you. He had easily captured a win against Yaoyorozu the match before, which had given you mixed feelings. 

     "Good luck!" Izuku called out and you gave him a thumbs up over your shoulder. This was the battle you had been waiting for. The gnawing anxious feeling crawled back into your bones, but it was also mixed with excitement and anticipation. 

     You were making your way back to the arena entrance when you saw Bakugo ahead of you, leaning against the wall. He must be resting after winning his battle, you thought. You move to walk past him, but he stuck his leg out so you couldn't pass without effort. 

     "Do you need something, Bakugo? I gotta get to my match." You addressed the problem in your way. 

     "It doesn't matter if you win. I'll beat whoever moves forward." You sighed, having enough of these stuck up guys. 

"Come on, dude. We can talk about this later." You tried to move past him again but he just stood up fully and got up in your face. You held your breathe. 

"It doesn't even fucking matter. You'd better hope you lose, because if you don't I'm gonna pound your fucking face into the ground for lying to me." 

"When did I lie to you?" 

"About your shitty quirk, bitch." You had a feeling someone would misunderstand your circumstances, and you should've known it would be Bakugo. This was disappointing because the two of you were actually on amicable terms for a while. 

"I lied to no one. I didn't even know that I could do all that." You told the honest truth, but he wouldn't have it. 

"Bullshit. I'm gonna win this competition and I won't have a liar like you standing in my fucking way." His face twisted into an ugly caricature of it's former self. "I can't decide who I want to blow to shit more." 

"You're just upset because you realized more people can go toe-to-toe with you than you thought there would be." 

"I could take any of you fuckers easily. Have fun losing to icy hot." He pushed past you and took off before you could have to the last word, which annoyed you. The one plus side of your conversation was that you were ready to physically fight someone now. You just hoped your anger and annoyance wouldn't cloud your judgment as you made your way to possibly the most important battle so far.

A/n: oops, sorry I've been gone. This book is so close to being finished, and I'm currently trying to plan for book two. Might need to take a small break to get ahead so I'm not so overwhelmed at times? I want to jump straight into writing it tho. See ya later.
