Finding the Avatar: Water (Bnha x Avatar reader insert)

Chapter thirteen

"Hey, how was school?" Kawa asked as you opened the car door and slung your backpack off of your shoulder. 

"It was good, is it okay if we give one of my friends a ride home? He broke his arm today during Hero Studies." 

"Yes, of course! Is he alright? What happened?" She twisted around in her seat to see you two since you were going to sit in back with your guest. 

     "I'm fine," he said quietly as he climbed in beside you. "I think I just need rest." 

     "Kawa this is my friend Midoriya Izuku. Midoriya this is my sister Kawa." You introduced them to each other. 

     "It's nice to meet you Midoriya. Where do you live?" 

Kawa started to drive off as Midoriya gave her his address. She nodded and asked him a few questions about where exactly it was at. 

"I'm surprised we haven't met before! The flower shop I work at is pretty close to where you live." Kawa commented. 

"Re-really? What's your quirk?" Midoriya asked excitedly. 

"Oh, Kawa's quirk is so cool!" You jumped in before she could answer for herself. "She has the exact same quirk that I do, except for she also has another quirk." 

"You have two quirks?" Midoriya was getting really excited now, it almost made you giggle. 

"Yes, I do. I also have a plant growing quirk. I help heal dying plants and make others even bigger and more beautiful!" You could hear the passion in Kawa's voice as she spoke. Gram always said it reminded her of your dad. 

"That's so cool! If I may ask, why aren't you becoming a hero?" He asked her politely. 

"Oh, the hero life isn't for me. That's Pau and y/n's domain." 

"Pau?" Your eyes lit up at the opportunity to talk about your brother. 

"Oh, Pau's amazing! He's our older brother. Well, he's actually our cousin but that's besides the point. He works at the Ibis Hero Agency. He's not very well known, but he's getting there!" 

"That's amazing! What's his hero name?" Midoriya brought out his phone, with one hand, so he could look him up. 

"It's Fleetwind. He has a wind quirk." 

"I'll be sure to look him up more later!" Midoriya typed away so he wouldn't forget. Soon you had arrived at his home and the two of you exchanged phone numbers before he left. You told him to get some rest. 

Before you drove off you hopped into the passenger's seat beside Kawa. She began to talk to you eagerly. 

"Soooo, he's cute!" She teased you about your classmate. 

"Kawa! Save it for when I care. I'm too busy to even think about boys." You said. 

"Tell me about your classmates! All of them." She demanded. 

     "Oh my god, I have this friend named Tsu, and she's soooo cute!" You gushed about your friend. 

     "So that's why you're too busy to think about boys." 

     "Kawa! You know what I meant." You crossed your arms and faced the window. You felt your face heat up. 

     "Okaaaay, tell me about her." She laughed. 

     "She looks like a frog! And she's super tiny." 

     "Cute! Ok, now tell me about the guys." You rolled your eyes. 

     "She introduced me to her friend Kaminari, who electrocuted me during hero studies!" 

     "That's... not good." She paused. "Are you okay?" 

     "Yeah, I'm fine now." You didn't want to tell her about how you passed out, or she would hold a grudge. She was good at doing that. 

     "Good. Who's next!" She loved gossip, she just wouldn't admit it. 

     "There's this one guy with some serious anger issues. His name's Bakugo, and he has an explosion quirk." You said. "Everyone is afraid of him."\ 

     "Mmh. Avoid him." 

     "He's probably a nice guy, on the inside." You reasoned with her. 

     "That's what they want you to think. I've been down that road, y/n. It doesn't end well." You grimaced, remembering a couple of her ex boyfriends. 

     "Ooookay. I'm not scared of him anyway. I'm scared of Todoroki." 

     "Ooooh, intriguing. Why?" Now you really had her attention. 

     "I didn't notice him until he spoke, but when he did I knew he was a player." 

"He flirted with you?" She shouted. 

"No! I mean he's the real deal. When he speaks everyone shuts up and listens. He froze an entire building today! And then, he thawed it! Effortlessly." 

"Oh, is he the Avatar?" You paused in thought, biting your lip. 

"He's on my list of suspects, unfortunately I had to go to the nurses office after my match so I'd didn't see the rest." You frowned. You had really missed an opportunity. 

"Who else is on your list?" She asked. 

"Tokoyami, mostly because I think it would be awesome to have an Avatar with a bird head. Bakugo, because he's super strong and has a fire-related quirk. Midoriya, kind of, because we've barely seen him use his quirk but both times it was super powerful. Yaoyorozu, because she's incredibly smart and would be an amazing leader. Honestly, providing they also have a quirk, it could be any of them." The possibilities overwhelmed you. Any one of them would be an amazing Avatar. 

"How come when I ask you who's cute you get mad, but you give me detailed descriptions when I ask who the Avatar is?" 

"Kawa!" You cried. "Because the Avatar is more important than my love life." 

"I know you think that. I just want you to be a normal teenager. And I want you to be happy." She pulled into the driveway to your house and turned to you. "Finding someone to love is important too, and I want you to know that."\ 

"Ugh! You sound like a mom!" 

"I'm just letting you know. Somebody had to." She gave you a sad smile before turning the car off and leaving the car. You sighed before following her inside the house.
Maybe she was right.
