You wondered down the empty hallways of UA instead of returning to the waiting room, not knowing when your final match would start and not caring. You felt so emotionally drained after what happened during your fight with Todoroki, and you had no idea how you were going to pull yourself together to fight Bakugo. You were also fairly sure it would take them a while to clean the stadium back up after what you did.
There was something about what happened during your fight with Todoroki that didn't feel right and it settled uncomfortably deep within your bones. You were so deep in thought that you didn't realize someone had approached you until they placed a gentle hand on your shoulder.
"Are you Alright?" It was Midoriya's friend, the man you called homeless beach guy in your head. He had a concerned look on his face.
"I'm not sure." You answered honestly. "I was just..." Your voice trailed off as you tried to come up with a reason why you were pacing the UA halls.
"You don't have to answer." He stopped your train of thought. "That last battle was rough."
"Uh, yeah." You answered, still unsure.
"Are you... aware of what power you used to beat Todoroki?" It didn't feel like he was asking out of curiosity.
"No." You lied to him, despite the gut feeling he had good intentions.
"You were using the Avatar State." He said.
"What?" This snapped you out of your all-encompassing daze.
"You were using the Avatar State. Do you know what that is?"
"Yes, I know what that is." You said despite knowing that it betrayed your lie. You weren't sure where this conversation was going and it worried you.
"I know you're the Avatar, Young Ikeyuri. I'm trying to help you." His tone was soft. "I knew Avatar Pong. When he was alive."
"You did?" You asked. "Who are you, exactly?"
"I don't think now is the right time to tell you." He said. "But I will later."
"Do you pinky promise? You asked.
"Pinky promise." He gave a little chuckle. "Let me walk you back to the stadium. You made it quite far into the building."
"Did I?" it was your turn to chuckle, though you did so out of embarrassment.
"Yes, you did. Do you want to talk about it?" He said, prompting you to open up to him more. There was something so familiar about him, and it made you want to trust him.
"I can't stop thinking about the fight with Todoroki. I don't know if I should've used the Avatar State."
"There seems to be a focus on giving your all to the competition." He reasoned. "That is all that you were doing."
"But I still feel like it was unfair to him. It was so strange, all of my senses were so heightened that there were too many details to take in." You processed the feeling of being in the State aloud. "I could feel all of the air around me. I was aware of every drop of water. The earth pulsed with energy."
"That sounds overwhelming."
"It felt like my pinky finger could move mountains." You looked down at your hands, flexing your fingers experimentally. "It was dangerous."
"Young Bakugo will be expecting you to do the same thing in your battle with him." He pointed out.
"Shit, you're right. And he's already mad at me for lying about my quirk." You winced. "What am I going to do?"
