Chapter 63 - Out of Time, Out of Ideas

The Alliance made a quick retreat from their assigned positions, safely evacuating before the situation could get any more drastic than it already had been. From the looks of things, there were far too many androids inhabiting the planet, far too many for them to handle considering their fatigued state and lack of a well thought out strategy. Sonic and the others had hoped that maybe a rendezvous would allow them to plan things out a bit better this time, avoiding the absolute mess that had just occured which potentially could've resulted in some rather significant casualties.

Upon exiting Apotos, Team Chaotix came across a long lost friend and ally, one who was presumed dead.

It was General Lynx.

He was noticably more injured than the rest of the group. He somehow managed to still be alive even after being penetrated by several bullets. Hell, he was pretty much on his last leg at this point, but thanks to the dispatching orders and the Chaotix's assistance in doing so, he was granted the chance to fight another day. Many of the Alliance members had begun to suffer the same fate as General Lynx, facing countless injuries and experiencing their worst fatigue to date. But alas, all hope was not lost, for Sonic had another, better idea this time.

Sonic was pleased to see that everyone had made it to the rendezvous point safely. Everybody seemed to be in a condition where they could still fight competently, and there were a lack of enemies in the area, though Sonic was still admant on making sure it stayed that way. With the assumption that the current situation was safe and sound, the Alliance piled up in the remnants of a huge office building in order to better discuss how they're going to successfully combat such a staggering number of androids. But little did they know that something particularly deadly was on their doorstep.

"Let me be the first to say...that. Sucked. Ass." groaned Knuckles, feeling humiliation over their botched attack. "Any other ideas?"

"Perhaps we should've collaborated better last time." admitted Sonic, feeling that his actions were too hasty and thought up far too quickly. "But anyway, there isn't much time until something affiliated with Eggman finds us, so if you have an idea, please don't feel afraid to chip in."

Amy decided to be the first to step up and present an idea, one that had been on her mind ever since the retreating had began.

"Well...considering we're all exhausted and clearly couldn't do much separated, I figured we could all go to individual cities altogether. We'll be much more efficient as a full force."

Sonic listened to Amys recommendation with great consideration, feeling that the idea was pretty solid and could possibly work.

"Yeah...that, and we're trying to avoid the situation that happened last time, so this does feel like a fairly adequate plan." Sonic took a walk and browsed through the area, inviting anyone else who wanted to project their own ideas into the matter. "Anything else? If not, then we'll be going with Amys plan."

"Uh...am I the only one worried about the Chaos Emeralds?" exclaimed Knuckles, eager to present his plans regarding the emeralds in question.

"I'm worried about them too, but like...we can't even use them right now." replied Sonic, pointing toward the greyed out gemstones, indicating their depleted energy.

"You do realize that we can reboot their energy using some sort of power surge, right?" Knuckles shot a demanding look toward Tails, hoping he could provide a useful answer to Knuckles' question.

"Well...sorta." Sonic scratched his head, unsure about any methods that could revitalize the emeralds. He then emulated the very same look Knuckles was giving Tails.

"What?" Tails had felt startled thanks to an entire room staring at him as if they expected something important out of him. "Oh, well...there might be a way to revive the energy ouput in the Chaos Emeralds, but seeing how broken the world is, a remedy is gonna be tough to find. We could use a single Chaos Emerald to track down the Master Emerald, but even then, it'll require a lot of power to get just one up and running again. So...I don't know, what do you think?"
