"There's way too many of them!" complained Charmy as he looked upon the destruction of Chaotix HQ. Hundreds of androids stormed the base and began to tear it apart from the inside.

"Why the hell would all of these androids wreck one small, insignificant building?" pondered General Lynx.

"I think these androids are a hell of a lot smarter than we're letting on." replied Espio. "They must know that this facility belongs to one of their masters greatest adversaries."

"True. But what good will standing around, discussing it do us?" said Vector impatiently. "Come on! Let's get going!"

The team immediately runs straight for their headquarters just as large fired began to appear. The androids had stormed the base, hoping to find and kill Team Chaotix, but since no one was there, the androids had took it upon themselves to begin destroying their beloved facility. Bombs started going off inside left and right, fires began to spew in all directions, and the smoke could be seen from the other side of the city.

"No!" shouted Vector as the building he fondly considered home was on the verge of being burned to the ground.

"They're not here!" alerted an android general. "Destroy what's left of this place and find them immediately!"

"Surprise motherfucker!" said Vector as he ambushed the android, smashing it inwards with a single overhead punch, it's head being knocked through it's body.

"You assholes wrecked our base! It was like a home to us! And now...I'm gonna wreck y'all asses for payback, how 'bout that?" said Vector as he clamped his fist against his hand, staring directly at the androids who were pillaging Chaotix's headquarters.

"Vector! Espio! General guy...whatever your name is--" said Vector as he began to face off against a massive squad of androids alone.

"It's General Lynx." he interrupted.

"I knew that!" scoffed Vector. "Come on and join in on the fun, guys."

Charmy, Espio, and many others, began to accompany Vector as he gave the androids what we would consider "a good ol' fashioned beat down". The combined forces of Team Chaotix and General Lynx's squad, along with the combined strength and furious rage caused by the destruction of their base allowed them to achieve an incredibly easy victory.

"Well...that was easy." boasted Charmy. "Those lame ass robots got tossed."

"You got that right. And I can promise you every other one of Eggman's machines will end up the same way." shrugged Vector smugly.

But his emotion quickly changed from smug and confident, to damn near depressed after he got to take a look at the rubble of Chaotix HQ up close. Espio and Charmy's expressions also changed to match Vector's. Heavy emotions and sentiment began to take control of Team Chaotix. It seemed as if the memories they've made as a detective squad throughout their many years together were just burnt to the ground, right before their very eyes.

"Whelp, that's it boys. It's all gone." sighed Vector as he picked up a tattered and torn portrait of the three standing with each other and giving a friendly smile to the camera.

"I feel like...something really vital inside of me just died." said Charmy as he began to tear up as he looked around the rubble. "All of our memories, years and years of them...gone."

"All of our records," said Espio as he examined the destruction, "all of our weaponry, everything here has been either completely defiled, or is fading away."

General Lynx began to sympathize with Team Chaotix, seeing the sadness and despair shine a radiating glow in their eyes. He walked up to Vector to try and comfort the grieving trio.

"I apologise for your loss. We could've done something to prevent this from happening."

"Ah, don't put yourself down." responded Vector, who started to feel a little better. "This was bound to happen, with this full scale invasion and all. I guess I should've prepared myself to handle the ramifications of it all better."

"And... let's try to think for a second," said Espio, "our memories may be destroyed physically, but they will forever remain a part of us for as long as we are a team. The Eggman Empire may have taken our base, but they can never take our pride. And as we long as we got that, then there's no way we can lose."

"Espio," said Charmy as he flew by the chameleon's side, "you're absolutely right. We can't let this get us down, we have to keep fighting until the battle has been won! Besides, after all of this is said and done, can't we simply relocate and begin a new era of memories?"

"You're both right." responded Vector, who felt a lot more cheered up thanks to Espio and Charmy's encouraging words.

"But there is one good thing to come out of all of this."

Vector then stepped outside to observe the current battle that was taking place downtown, "It gives us an even bigger reason to kick that old Eggman's ass."

"Eggman will pay for this, indeed," said Espio as he walked up to Vector and stood by his side, "but right now, we've got to clean up the streets. We already lost our home base, we cannot lose our hometown as well."

"Well, in that case, we'd better quite wasting precious time and get down there already!" groaned Charmy.

"Where do I stand in all of this?" asked General Lynx.

"As for you," replied Vector, "you've made it this far and have helped us in this battle quite a bit, so you have my trust. But if you can help us pull off a victory here in Sunset City, then you have my friendship."

General Lynx grinned as he was reloading his rifle. Before this battle, he was just some unknown general whom the Chaotix have never heard of before. But since he has proved himself to be a worthy fighter, and is about to prove himself even further, then he could potentially become a very close ally and friend to the Chaotix, as well as the entire Alliance.

"Now, let's go!"

Following Vector's cries of war, Chaotix and General Lynx's platoon of soldiers dived headfirst into the Metropolitan area of the city, the one crawling front to back with androids. The Chaotix were now more determined than ever to give the androids the absolute beat down they rightfully deserved.

As Espio had said, they wouldn't dare make the same mistakes they had made when their base got ruthlessly obliterated. Chaotix HQ may have gotten destroyed, but they'd be damned if they were going to let their city share the same fate.
