Chapter 6 - Angel Island Ambush

As the four stepped through the portal, they were instantly transported to Angel Island, where Knuckles could be seen sleeping upon the altar. Needless to say, he was not prepared for this attack, unlike the storm of Badniks that appeared just the other day. That is one of the many advantages to having the Warp Topaz, being able to coordinate the ultimate ambush. Not only was Knuckles completely unprepared for this attack, but he was also fighting by himself, against four formidable opponents.

"Aw, he's so cute when he's sleeping," said Tumble looking over the sleeping echidna.

Knuckles quickly opened up his eyes and just as quickly began to realize that he was being cornered and could possibly lose the Chaos Emeralds.

"Wh-what?" he clammered, "How? Who? What? Where?" He was incredibly confused as to how Metal Sonic and Emerl, two robots that had been nearly destroyed during their previous encounter, looked brand new and shiny. Not only that, but how they got there without any detection was an even bigger concern. But no matter what the circumstances were, Knuckles knew he had to fight them to keep the Emeralds safe. Who knows what they could do if they ever obtained their power.

"You look a little bewildered Knuckles," boasted Metal Sonic, "I think you know what happens next."

"Why, yes I do." Knuckles responded, "I kick your tin canned ass!"

Knuckles performs a charging punch at Metal Sonic, unfortunately, he dodges the attack and Metal Sonic grabs Knuckles by the legs and spin slams him onto the ground. Rough kicks Knuckles in the face as he is getting up, which launches him into Rough's arms, who proceeds to bodyslam the Echidna.

"How pathetic," said Metal Sonic, "I knew we'd be out of here in no time, but I was expecting a little bit more of a challenge."

"Unfortunately for you", said Knuckles as he got up, "I'm just getting warmed up."

"Oh sure you were!" exclaimed Tumble, "Don't make obnoxious excuses just 'cause you can't beat us!"

As soon as Tumble finished his sentence, Knuckles obliterates him with a huge punch directly into his nose. Rough runs up behind Knuckles, attempting to attack, but Knuckles delivers a swift elbow strike into his nose as well. Both skunks now have broken noses as they both bleed and yell in agony. Knuckles grins and crosses his arms.

"Oh for fucks sake," shouted Metal Sonic in an annoyed tone, "you two are unforgivably weak! Knuckles, let me and Emerl show you what true strength looks like."

"That's funny, didn't I whoop both of your asses last time?"

"We were rebuilt, upgraded, and became much stronger than a weakling Echidna such as yourself could ever be."

Knuckles grunted and grew agitated by Metal Sonic's pretentious insults.

"Now, I shall leave you with two choices. You either let us take your precious Emeralds and your death will be quick and painless, or, you resist and shall face an unspeakable amount of suffering of which you have never experienced."

"Doesn't sound very fair to--", Rough connects a crushing blow straight into Knuckles' cranium, knocking him straight to the ground.

"You're stalling ya moron!" said Rough as he performed his attack.

Metal Sonic facepalmed, he had wanted him and Emerl to fight Knuckles to avenge their defeat from their last battle. The metallic warrior strutted towards the altar as Knuckles was getting stomped and kicked on by Rough and Tumble. Emerl moved the two skunks out of his way, he then got on top of Knuckles and began to strike him in the face repeatedly as Metal Sonic began looting the Chaos Emeralds.
