What fortune!
As the team progressed their way throughout the Sandopolis Desert, the Emerald started to shine bright with its alluring green aura. Despite their search party being a success, it still wasn't over yet. The desert was very large and was comprised of several unique towns, cities, villages, etcetera. A bit more exploring was still required in order to find Eggmans hiding spot. However, the Alliance would be ensured that Eggmans discovery had been made through the Emeralds mystifying glow.
"Wow! Looks like the Emerald is really starting to shine!" Cream observed as the team were hovering over the ruins of Shamar.
"It is, but the Emerald's indicating that we're still quite a ways away." Tails assured.
"How will we know when we're really close?" Sonic wondered.
"Oh trust me, you'll know exactly when." Tails looked down at Sonic and grinned at him confidently.
"Well...either way, I hope we find Eggman soon!" Silver whined in despair as he was forced to gaze upon all the damage Shamar had taken. "I just want all of this misery to end! Nobody deserved any of this!"
Silver was shouting a bit louder than how he intended to, loud enough to wake Blaze up from her slumber as she had laid comfortably in her lovers arms throughout this entire trip. She emitted a small trill indicating that she had woken up.
"Aw man, my ranting didn't wake you up, did it?" Silver had felt pretty guilty upon waking her up, seeing as she was quite comfortable and that she could've potentially regained most of her strength.
Blaze slowly lifted her head up to glare into Silvers glowing eyes. "Oh...no, you're fine. Hell, I was quite fortunate to receive any rest at all! Anyway, how close are we?"
"It appears that the Emerald seems to glowing brighter and more often, so pretty close I assume." Tails continued to observe the Emerald that floated in between the group via Silvers telekinesis.
"Do you have an estimate of when we'll find him?" asked Sonic.
"Uh...about another hour or so. But not to worry, we'll find him eventually!"
As the Alliance continued their long search for him, Eggman was gearing up for the deployment of his brand new weapon. It was an absolutely massive dragon shaped mech that had quite the assortment of weapons, gadgets and gimmicks. Eggman was more than anticipated to finally unveil such a masterful piece of equipment, but simultaneously, he felt moronic for never utilizing it before.
"Ah, here it is Starline, my ultimate masterpiece!" he exclaimed as the two watched a landing deck lift it up toward the roof of their base.
"He's said that about everything." Starline muttered to himself.
"What was that?" Eggman could faintly hear Starlines remarks though he couldn't quite decipher them.
"Oh, it was nothing, sir!"
"Hmm...well, alright then! Follow me up to the rooftop, there you can get a closer look at this piece of wonder!"
"I assume you're going to be piloting this machine?" Starline inquired as the two headed toward the roof of the base.
"Why, yes I am! And while I am busy commandeering it, you will be assisting me by further scattering more androids across the lands!"
"I've already got another batch ready to be deployed, sir! Oh, and about your mech...what do you suppose we call it?"
"I'm gonna call it...the Egg Wyvern!" Eggman answered in a typical villainous manner as he entered the mechs cockpit. He then ignited the engines, activated all of its weaponry and declared for takeoff. "Starline, I suggest you get back downstairs. That is if you don't prefer to be cooked alive!"
"Very well, sir!"
Starline exited from the landing platform and returned to his usual domain within the base, where he deployed another batch of androids. This time to several various locations across Mobius, not just Metropolis thie time. As more and more androids made their way through the many portals, Starline watched Eggmans descent with great interest. But after Eggman left his field of view, Starline started to ponder on future plans unrelated to Eggman and his Empire.
"Have fun enjoying your inevitable defeat, Eggman. For I have a special weapon of my own lurking somewhere amongst this planet. And when I find him, you'll rue the day you agreed to a partnership with me."
As the Alliance continued flying throughout the vast desert, the Emerald began glowing at an alarming rate. It seemed as if the Master Emerald was very, very close nearby. They landed on a cliff edge where the Emerald was able to recieve its strongest signal yet.
"Wow, we must be getting close!" Big observed.
"At this rate, the Emerald's glowing as if it were still placed upon its altar, meaning that the Master Emerald should be right here." Tails looked around anxiously while carefully holding the bright Emerald.
"But there's...nobody here." said Shadow. "Perhaps something is interfering with its signal."
Just then, a faint whistling sound could be heard skimming throughout the desert air. The sound in question only grew louder and louder which had quickly piqued their curiosity.
"What the hell is that?" Sonic wondered upon hearing the aforementioned sound.
The source of the mysterious sound was then identified as a missile that struck the side of the cliff edge they were standing on. The missiles impact caused an entire chunk of the land to break apart and collapse onto the desert below. Unfortunately, Cream and Vanilla were standing right where the cliff began to break apart. Luckily, Cheese and Chocola were able to swoop in and rescue them before they would've been killed brutally.
"Thank you two." Vanilla expressed her gratitude as the two rabbits were carefully set back down on top of the cliff edge.
Just then, a distinctively familiar voice was heard from beyond their standpoint. It was none other than Doctor Eggman himself, who made his presence quite clear as he began gloating about his new machine, as he typically does.
"Salutations, my Alliance friends!" he greeted nefariously with his usual sneer. "Isn't it just depressing how after triumphing over all of this adversity, surviving on an empty stomach for a year, and even taking the time to go out looking for old me, you still lose in the end?"
"Cut the chatter!" For once, Sonic declined his typical boasting session and went straight to the point. "You are gonna pay for all of the lives you've taken! All the pain and misery you've caused this planet! You will--"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it, you're trying to act all vengeful. So, instead of talking, why don't I show you my newest creation? You all should be humbled to get obliterated by such an incredible device!"
"Damn, now he's the snarky one?" said Silver.
"He won't be for much longer." Shadow cut in as he and the others began forming up alongside Sonic.
"Not if we have anything to do about it." Blaze forming a fighting stance of her own.
"So...I take it we're all ready then?" Sonic gave a confident smirk as his squad readied themselves into their battle stances. Everyone nodded to confirm Sonics request. "Alrighty then...charge!"
