Chapter 27 - Boundless, Limitless, Infinite

And with the acquisition of limitless power, Infinite, as he now goes by due to his staggering amount of strength being just that, and the Eggman Empire were able to take over more of Mobius much quicker than they ever could before. More towns, more cities, more civilians fell helplessly to the absolute might of the unstoppable Empire. All in the span of just two months.

Even the Alliance had become overwhelmed by the constant attacks and invasions. It had gotten so bad that several members of the Alliance split apart and were forced to retreat into hiding in areas all across the planet. Just when the world had thought all hope was lost when this war began, they were surely certain that the end was near now.

Even though Eggman's factory was mostly destroyed, the Empire could still supply themselves with a deadly arsenal in which the likes has never been seen before. One of Infinite's powers was the ability to create projections of any sort of being he so desired. This did not only include robots, but living creatures as well. Infinite could create accurate replicas of anyone he wished, including Sonic and Shadow, as well as Sonic's past foes such as Chaos.

These holograms were made from living tissue and possessed the exact same attributes and abilities the originals did. The only problem is that they didn't function well mentally, as they were simply mindless copies after all, a zombie of their actual self. This allowed them to be beaten pretty easily if the opponent had their had in the game and could predict their next move. But despite all that, the sheer quantity of the Empire had overwhelmed the entire world almost immediately.

And another reason as to how Eggman was so successful with his conquest over Mobius, was Infinite's incredible strength and prowess. He could not only forge replicas of just about anyone, but he had the power to manipulate time as well as project various forms of physical energy including beams. He also had the ability of flight, teleportation and levitation, as well as enhanced strength and agility. In short, his powers and abilities were infinite, making his new moniker oh so appropriate.

His time manipulation abilities allowed him to either slow down or speed up time whenever he pleased. He could also pause time entirely and move around freely as everything around him was completely frozen. However, there were limitations to his powers as he could only affect areas with his manipulativeness within a 20 mile radius. His affect on time also didn't last forever either and his victims would eventually be brought back to reality within a few minutes after being targeted.

But his copies had a mind of their own and could traverse the surrounding areas as they pleased. Though they were just dumb replicas whose intelligence was quite barren, they still had the ability to wander around and mindlessly kill on their own. Think of them as the androids Eggman was cranking out prior to the "birth" of Infinite.

And with the damn near immediate success of the Empire's full scale invasion, Eggman was able to establish several brand new robot factories all across Mobius to replace the ones that were defeated before Infinite had joined him. Civilians were hand picked to be slaves and forced into manual labor to help build machines for the Eggman Empire, the ones who were deemed weak and unworthy were killed without question or hesitation. The devastation of Mobius seemed to have doubled by the day with the constant increase of Eggman's forces and, of course, Infinite.

Since a vast majority of the Alliance split apart, Team Dark were temporarily disbanded, including Shadow. After discovering that some sort of mysterious being was behind much of the planet's destruction, he went to go investigate to find the source of their power, and to prevent it from causing any further harm to his beloved home.

Shadow had eventually caught up to Infinite by following a slight trail of vapor he left behind and traced his location to a remote village in Holoska where he was seen "recruiting" members for the Eggman Empire.
