Sonic Apocalypse

Chapter 4 - A New Enemy

Eggman had stepped through the portal, not knowing where he has heading nor who was bringing him there. After stepping through to the other side, Eggman found himself in a small laboratory fairly similar to a college dormitory room.

"What the hell did I just stumble upon?" said Eggman condescendingly.

"Forgive me, I haven't cleaned up in a few days, I've been...rather busy as of late," replied Eggman's savior.

"Heh, I can tell. Anywho, enough small talk, who are you? And more importantly, how were you able to set me free from Prison Island? The cameras, the motion detectors, all of G.U.N.'s robots just...shut down?"  Eggman leered at the mysterious man with great curiosity and uncertainty, "How?"

The man snickered and began to introduce himself, "My name is Dr. Starline. I have been studying and admiring your work for as long as I could remember. I too strive for world domination and to destroy Sonic the Hedgehog."

Eggman takes a good look around the room and notices several scrapped or unfinished prototypes for various different machines, as well as several pieces of equipment scattered all over the floor as well as a few holes in the walls around them. 

"Yes, I can see that you've got quite some room for improvement," said Eggman. "But how on Mobius were you able to rescue me?"

"This," Starline then reveals a bright orange stone on his wrist, "This, Doctor, is called the Warp Topaz. It is an incredibly powerful stone that has the capabilities of warping space, allowing the user to travel long distances in a matter of mere seconds. Oh, and about the cameras, the pure energy from the Warp Topaz shut down any sort of technological hardware throughout the facility. Impressive, huh?"

Eggman studies the stone close up and is in shock and awe over its incredible capabilities. He grabs Starline's hand and starts to shake it around and toy with it.

Starline obviously pulls his arm, and the Topaz away from Eggman, "You have to be careful with this sir, it must not come in harm's way. You have no idea just how powerful this stone can be!"

"Fair enough I guess," Eggman replied. "Oh, one more question, why exactly did you come and rescue me? What have you got planned?"

"I rescued you because as I said before, I have lived my life aspiring to become an evil doctor craving world domination. Ever since I was a young platypus, I've always admired your work. Others feared you, I on the other hand, have praised you. I cannot stress enough how much your intellect amazes me...Master Eggman."

Eggman jumped up in excitement after hearing what Starline had to say, "Well, Dr. Starline, it's nice to finally meet someone who is fond of my inventions, even if they can't defeat the one being I've tried to destroy." Eggman's expression went bleak, his latest defeat that ultimately got him locked up had resurfaced in his mind.

Starline studied Eggman's expression, knowing exactly what had happened that day, "Ah yes, that devious blue hedgehog. What are your next plans for him?"

"Uh, well, here's the thing, I don't have one." Eggman chuckles nervously.

"Oh, I'm sure you can think of something," said Starline attempting to boost Eggman's confidence, "you're Dr. Eggman. You always have a plan."

"Well I hate to dissapoint you, but I don't. Matter of fact, this is the first time I legitimately had no plans for what I was going to do next. And uh, I guess you could say I was rather reckless in my last attack. Looking back at it, I had no clue what I was thinking. I mean, sending the rest of my pathetic Badniks to steal the Chaos Emeralds? I had absolutely lost my god damn mind, and look at where it landed me. Stuck in a cold cell with barely edible...I probably shouldn't even call it food. And know I'm stuck with some platypus who for all I know has some sort of man crush on me and appears to be more incompetent than me if all these busted machines I'm seeing is anything to go by."
