Whisper the Wolf and Tangle the Lemur were merely rookies in the Alliance as they were recruited shortly before this war's initial battle at Central City, so they had the perfect opportunity to prove their strength and maybe even impress some of the more veteran Alliance members in this battle over at Empire City, one of the hardest hit cities on Mobius.
Tails was originally supposed to go with Tangle and Whisper, but due to the circumstances surrounding Sonic and his hunt for Dr. Eggman, Tails decided that it would be best to find Sonic and help him out before something terrible happens to Sonic and nobody in the Alliance is aware of it. The fear of not knowing whether Sonic was in danger or not had really started to take a toll on Tails.
Without the help of Tails and his virtuosic skills with technology, achieving victory would become a much greater challenge for Tangle and Whisper, two young soldiers who both feature different, but still admirable attributes.
Tangle possesses incredible physical strength that could even rival that of Knuckles. She also has a long tail that can be stretched out for quite a far length. So far, that even Tangle herself doesn't yet know just how far it can reach, and she can use it as a grappling device, a long ranged punch, or in Big and Storm's experience, a catapult.
Whisper is a skilled marksman who is in possession of the wisps, an ancient species of extraterrestrial beings who have various, extraordinary powers. And she wields a powerful rifle-like weapon named the Variable Wispon that is used to fire said wisps much like a regular gun. Two of the five wisps Whisper has can be used as a melee weapon; one of them is a hammer, while the other is a circular saw.
The city was already overrun by the time the two had touched down, so them and the several Alliance soldiers they had brought with them had more than a lot of work to do if they were going to cleanse the city of its mechanized infestation.
"Dayum," exclaimed Tangle, "that's...a lot of robots down there. Surely more than I've ever seen before."
"Ya nervous?" asked an Alliance soldier.
"Me? Nervous? Pssshhh, as if. I've got so much energy bundled up inside of me that I'm just ready to unleash on these guys!"
Tangle directed to her attention to Whisper and got very close to her face, "How 'bout you Whisper? You ready for the fight of a lifetime?" Whisper was quite startled by Tangle invading her personal space, being the shy and timid wolf that she is.
"Uh, sure. I guess." replied Whisper softly with a nervous tone of voice.
"That's the spirit! Now get ready, we're going to be landing any time soon now."
The aircraft landed and Tangle jumped out immediately and went head first into the action, smashing every android she faces with relative ease. All of the energy she had been keeping locked up inside had exploded and the many unfortunate androids became her victim.
Whisper ran out after everybody else and found a tall building that she can snipe the androids from. Her keen senses and percision made taking out androids with dead on accurate headshots a breeze.
Whisper had a total of 5 different wisps at her arsenal. The two that were already mentioned, the Blue Wisp and the Pink Spikes are typically used as a deadly melee weapon, but the other three act as a bullet that can be fired from Whisper's rifle. There's a Cyan Lazer, a Crimson Eagle and an Orange Rocket.
Whisper stored the Wisps each in their own separate canister that she can cycle through using the Variable Wispon. Whisper typically uses the Cyan Lazer the most, which is best used for precision sniping, while the Crimson Eagle is a much more powerful version of the Cyan Lazer, it travels faster, has more range, and can destroy more androids at once. While the Orange Rocket is pretty self explanatory.
