Metal Sonic swatted an android that had leaped straight at him while his back was turned. And of course, that android was far from being alone, as a massive quantity of bloodthirsty machines could be seen parading throughout the city while the rebels did everything in their power to drive the Empire's numbers back. It was obviously tough work, but their will and determination proved to be strong enough to withstand the massive mechanical armada.

The two opposing forces clashed together in the battle to take back Metropolis, the capital of the entire planet. No battle in the history of Mobis held higher stakes than the one currently taking place. Months of being subjected to slavery and tyranny would finally come to an end, or so the Alliance had hoped. Despite being injured, exhausted and ever so desperately clinging to life, the Alliance knew they were going to emerge victorious. The evergrowing wish to see their loved ones and to see their beloved planet restored after facing the worst devastation it's ever seen gave them the strength to persevere and push through any sort of threat that came their way. As they've eah stated time and time again, they'd do anything to save their world.

The Alliance fought to their dying breath with every little bit of strength they could muster. They were all depleted but nonetheless, they continued to push on and on. And as a result, the Empire were on the losing side of this battle at the start. Hordes of brainless robots just couldn't stand a chance against a rebelling force of angry, homesick heroes, who would give anything just to return to their normal lives again, and not have to suffer from an opressive regime ever again.

"Auck! Get me out of this burning building you cretin!" ordered Eggman while heavily coughing.

"Working on getting a portal opened, sir!" responded Starline, trying to find a location where he could open one. There was so much debris scattered throughout the facility that one simply wouldn't fit.

"Eergh, just hurry up already!"

"But sir, I don't have much space--"

"Much space? Stop making these damn excuses already!"

"They're not excuses! I seriously can't--"

"Starline...when we get out of here...oh, you don't even wanna know what I'm gonna do to you." Eggman groaned and buried his face inside of his hands. He was getting so sick and tired of what he proclaimed was incompetence from Dr. Starline, when really he legitimately couldn't open a portal unless some space could be cleared.

The impatient doctor just sat on a plank of wood and fanned the air to keep the smoke away from him. He had already breathed in so many toxic fumes that he had started coughing uncontrollably as if a deadly virus had ravaged his respiratory system. However, Eggman had quickly felt hope again as he noticed Infinite's trademark red aura surround a small area directly in front of him. Infinite then revealed himself to his sickened master, who had immediately noticed the crack in the Phantom Ruby. He was clearly upset about it.

"What in the hell happened to your Ruby?!" Eggman quickly got up and pointed his disgustingly long finger at the very noticeable damage. Eggman had begun to fear that maybe he wasn't as powerful as he had anticipated.

"It was Sonic, sir." said Infinite.

"Sonic?!" exclaimed Eggman, baffles as to how Sonic was able to damage Infinite in the slightest. "How could you allow that pathetic little hedgehog to destroy your source of power?"

"Fear not, master. For my Ruby isn't destroyed. It's just slightly damaged."

"Slightly damaged?!" Eggman raised his voice so high that he started to cough harder than before. "You're...all static. It looks like you're fading away! Ah, whatever, I'm sure it's nothing. Anyway, I need you to get me out of this building before it collapses on top of us and Starline. Take us to the Egg Fortress, there we shall discuss our next course of action."
