Chapter 77 - Eggman Gets Cooked

Like missiles whistling through a battlefield; Blaze, Shadow and Sonic were hurled toward Eggman via Silvers telekinesis. Like a knife through hot butter, the trio cut through the Wyvern's thick hull, turning it into a pile of scrap metal in an instant. The combined power from the four was all too much for the weakened machine to handle. And Eggman, along with the remnants of his once mighty mech, fell several feet onto the crumbling cliff edge below.

Yep, it's now official. Eggman is no more.

"Wait, Silver! The Master Emerald!" Shadow warned as the gemstone collapsed along with Eggman.

Since it was susceptible to critical or even permanent damage, Silver needed to act quickly in order to save the Master Emerald. And that he did. He ripped it straight out of its holding spot in the Wyvern and hoisted it in the air safely, carefully pulling it towards his friends afterwards in order to guarantee its safety.

To further inspect the Wyvern's damage, the quadrant carefully mounted themselves onto the cliff edge. After waiting a few moments, Eggman finally bursted out of the rubble and menacingly glared at them, namely Sonic. He was in pieces. Blood leaked from nearly every area on his body, his glasses were broken and a good amount of his clothing had been torn to shreds. He was in even worse condition than the time when his base was raided prior to this whole war.

"Sonic..." he finally elicited as blood oozed from his mouth. "You...you..."

Sonic, as he typically did, began taunting his defeated rival. "Y-y-you did exactly what everyone thought was gonna happen? Even after all of the triumphs you had over this past year, in the end...everyone and their mama knew you'd still lose in the end. Defeating you has become more routine than changing my clothes."

"Enough!" Eggman shouted, fed up with Sonics mockery. He then reverted back to his typical sneering directly following his outburst. "You may have bested me in battle again, but unlike the other occasions, you have lost this time around!"

"Wha? What are you talking about? Your goofy machine has been destroyed and you're about a bitchslap away from death. Sounds like a victory to me."

The absolute devastation of nearly the entire world currently hadn't crossed Sonics mind, and Eggman wanted to make it very clear that he and the others have failed in securing the planets safety.

"Oh, just wait until you return home. Or, better yet, what little home still remains." The cliff edge began to rumble, indicating that it was on its last leg. "Don't you guys see? You have failed in accomplishing the one thing you constantly aspire to do. The world, Sonic...it's gone. There's nothing left. Just...death and despair."

Eggmans words had pierced Sonics heart like a sharp blade. Had he not been standing upon unstable land, he'd still be trembling all the same. All of his thoughts had been vanquished. That triumphant glee had been replaced with pure guilt and sadness. His heart just sank to the soles of his shoes, all he could do was just stand there as Eggmans words pained him further and further as the world around him crumbled both figuratively and literally. 

"And all of it...was your fault."

Sonics mind went blank following those few words....he knew Eggman was correct there.

"So enjoy your pyrrhic victory." Eggman gave one last word of intimidation before him and his mech collapsed along with the rest of the cliff edge. "Sayonara, Sonic the Hedgehog."

"Sonic! C'mon! The cliff is collapsing! You haven't got much time left!" Shadow warned as they all watched Sonic stand there as the cliff was about to enter freefall.

"Don't worry! I got this!" Silver lifted him and the others off to safety. But as they exited the area, they couldn't help but watch their longtime nemesis fall to his death along with tons upon tons of rock.
