This was another recommendation. I'm sorry for the spaced-out updates, but I'm trying my best despite all the work I have to do. I hope you all enjoy the chapter!

Gasping as I twirl her around, Mai spins from her fleeting position, pressing flush against my body. She lifts her gaze to mine, keeping her expression cool as she takes me in. Despite the slight age difference, I tower of the markswoman by an inch or two. My grip on her arm loosens so she can back away should she feel uncomfortable.

Grinning slyly, I point out, "Looks like you couldn't get away this time."

Toph and Sokka continue to fight off Ty Lee as I capture Mai's attention.

Rolling her eyes moodily, the non-bender retorts, "I let you off easy."

"Really? Why would you ever let that happen? Oh, wait. I know. Maybe it's because you like me." I tease while lifting a cautious hand to her left cheek.

"Sure." She agrees sarcastically, though she doesn't make any advancements or motion to pulling away.

"Whatever you say, beautiful. I'm still one step away from making you mine." I grin, pressing the back of my fingers against her cheek and gently rubbing off some of the dirt building up from our battle.

She pauses under the touch, lifting her gaze to match mine once again. My grin grows as we lock eyes for a moment, encouraging the slight flutter in my chest. The older girl allows herself to stare for a second before scoffing and tugging herself free from my loose grasp.

"Keep telling yourself that." Her arms cross over her chest in a bored manner.

Despite her comment, a large grin makes its way across my lips. Trust me, I understand the difference between genuine uninterest and playing hard to get. If I felt she surely didn't like me, I'd leave her alone. At that point, I'm just harassing her, and harassment is no joke.

But I know she likes me. She always targets me in battle, or her eyes flicker a little lower than they should. When she hides any once of fluster beneath her stoic structure, but her attention falls downcast for a brief moment.

Forcing my gaze from her defined features, I glance over to a seemingly defeated Ty Lee. Toph trapped her to the field's ground. I like fighting in the coverage of trees for the most part, but battling in an open range this time allowed for more mobility.

Sokka and Toph high-fived excitedly before turning to me expectantly.

"Looks like your friend could use your help," I announce while glancing over towards the markswoman.

She turns away from me, ignoring my comment as she strides toward the acrobat. A sigh escapes my lips as I watch her step off. After regrouping with my friends, the three of us position in a deformed triangle. We observe as the markswoman struggles to release her friend from the ground. After a while, the two manage to slip away under our watchful eyes...or feet, I guess.

"I think I almost got to her this time," I admit while placing my hands on my hips.

Sokka rolls his eyes, turning around so that his back no longer faces me.

"Sure. That's what you said the last time, too. Just face it. Mai doesn't like you. Plus, she's the friend of our enemy. Why would you want to get with her?" He question, lifting his pinky to ear and digging into the appenage.

Toph warns, "Here we go again..."

Crossing my arms over my chest and turning from the pair, I explain, "Just because her friend's evil doesn't mean that she is, and she's the definition of beauty. Her-"
