The doctor was with Neil and Mini too was in the ward, and Neil was trying to walk without the walker stick, as he whined that he felt old with that thing.. Doctor was helping him..

Doctor: Kehna padega Mr. Neil.. WIll power kaafi strong hai aapki, itni jaldi varna to chalna impossible hota.

Neil: Impossible to kuch nahi hai doctor.. Umeed aur bharose pe sab kuch ho jaata hai (looking at Mini) I mean, umeed, bharosa and confidence... Apne upar confidence, self confidence

He said looking at Mini all the time and without breaking the eyelock, leaving the bechara doctor confused.

Doctor: Anyways Mr. Neil.. Ghar jaane ke baad bhi aapko proper rest karna padega.. Walking is allowed, but no strain at all ok?? Medicines saare time pe lene hai, agar pain increase hua to painkillers le lijiye, agar phir bhi kam nahi hua, to please call me ok?

Mini: Vahi to problem hai na doctor, medicines ke naam pe muh bana leta hai, aap please bol dijiye ki khana aur medicines dono lene hai aur kaam to bilkul nahi karna 😏

Doctor chuckled at her words while Neil glared at her..

The doctor left shortly, and Mini left to get his medicines, and Biji entered the ward.

Biji: Ab kaisa hai?

Neil: Bilkul perfect

Biji: Acha hai, ab tu ghar aa jaa, ek baar tum dono ki nazar utarni padegi.. (caressed his hair) dono bachho ko na jaane kis ki nazar lag gayi..

Neil: Kisi ki nazar nahi lagi hai Biji, mai bilkul thik hu dekhiye

Biji: Ha bhagvan ki kripa se tu thik hai.. Par uss din to hum sab ki jaan nikal gayi thi, jab uss doctor ne bola ki tu...

Just then Preet interrupted...

Preet: Biji!!!

Neil: Kya hua preet?

Preet: Ku..kuch nahi.. Dadu aapko bula rahe hai

Biji understood why she said that and went out..

Neil: Preet ab Biji kya bol rahi thi?? Kya hua tha??

Preet: Neil, tum biji ko to jaante hi ho, senti hoti hai na, tab kuch bhi bol deti hai.. Tum ruko mai Mini ko bhejti hu, vo shayad...

Neil: Medicines lene gayi hai, par sabhi log uss din ki baat ko kyu taal rahe ho??

Preet (slowly) : Koi yaad nahi karna chahta hai Neil.. Tum khud bolo, agar hum uss din ki baat kare tumse jab Mini ka vo bangalore ke trekking area me accident hua tha, to tum nahi taaloge kya?? Baat kar paoge uss din ka?? Kar paoge yaad??

She hit her final nail in the coffin, and she knew did it right.. She left the ward after tapping his shoulder lightly, leaving him to contemplate on her words..

Neil: She is right.. Mai to uss din ke baare me nahi baat kar paata, to vo kaise karenge?? I know how it feels.. But.. Why do I feel this has more to it?? Neil bas kar.. Zyada mat soch..

He laid down, closing his eyes and trying to avoid the thoughts clouding his mind.. After sometime, Mini came there and saw Neil sleeping.. She wiped the tears present in her eyes.. She sat down next to him and caressed his hair.. His frown lines disappeared and he looked visibly relaxed feeling her touch, she smiled looking at this.. She walked out of the ward silently wiping her tears, just to see Preet standing right outside the ward door.. She wiped Mini's tears..

Mini: (chuckled bitterly) kabhi nahi socha tha ki usko aise hospital me dekhungi Preet kaure..

She shut her eyes tight, controlling herself

Mini: I know vo soch raha hoga ki aaj kal mai usse baat hi nahi karti, trust me, I want to.. I really want to.. Par mai kya karu preet kaure?? Nahi hota mujhse.

Preet: Aakhir kab tak tu uske sone ka wait karegi usse jaake dekhne ke liye, usse baat karne ke liye?? Vo bhi taras raha hai mini tujhse baat karne ko.. Aaj vo ghar aayega, tab kaise taalegi uske saare savaal??

Mini: Bata dungi usse yaar, par aaj to nahi, aaj to bilkul nahi.. Vo ghar aa raha hai, uske liye khana banane ke liye Rani didi ko bol diya hai.. Pehle vo thik se kha pikar settle ho jaaye, phir baat karungi usse mai.

Preet: Ab mujhe bata tu.. Itne din apne aansu bahane ke liye kaha jaati thi tu ha??

Mini: Jaati to thi aansu bahane Preet kaure, par tu to jaanti hai na, mere aansu bhi vo comfort ke bina nahi behte..

Preet: Mini, sun meri baat.. Bas ye yaad rakh ki uss din jo bhi hua, unn sab ka Neil ka jaanna zaruri hai, aaj tak usko nahi pata kya hua tha..

Mini: Kyu uska jaanna zaruri hai mujhe samajh nahi aata, uska accident... hua.. thaa...

Preet: Bas itna hi usko pata hai, baaki kuch nahi, samjhi??

Mini: Ha preet kaure samajh gayi

Preet: Aur dhyan rakh ye Neil ko tujhe hi batana hai, agar kisi aur se pata chala to, usko bohot bura lagega

Mini: Aur naraz ho jayega..

Preet: naraz to vaise bhi usse hona hi hai..

Mini: dara mat yaar Preet kaure..

Preet: Acha chal kha le kuch tu..

They left from there, oblivious to 2 pairs of ears listening to their conversation..

Yes!! Neil had heard each and every word they spoke.. He was standing there inside, holding the door for support..

Neil: So I was right!! Kuch to chupa rahi hai Mini madam mujhse (chuckled bitterly) Par pata nahi kya.. Ghar jaake baat karni hogi.. AAJ HI!!

In the afternoon

Mini: Neil!!

She entered the ward calling him, saw him lost in thoughts.. She shook him out of his thoughts, only to see his teary eyes..

Mini: Neil.. kya hua??

Neil turned to the side and wiped his tears..

Neil: Ha mini bolo..

Mini: Neil.. thik to ho na..

Neil: ha.. (in mind) aur jo nahi hai, vo bhi ho jayegi.. Tum..

Mini: aree mai to bhul hi gayi.. Chalo Bobby car leke aa gaya hai, tab se ghar jaana tha na, chalo.

She said while helping him get up, while he was looking at her wondering how was she even thinking to pull off this facade in front of him!!

Mini: Chalo!! aise kya dekh rahe ho??

Neil: hmm

They left for home.. They reached home and Neil saw that everyone were waiting for him there.. After some chit chat, Mini took Neil to his room as it was downstairs itself.. She made him lay comfortably and all the time he was only looking at her.. She noticed it and sat down next to him

Mini: Kya hua Neil?? Kuch bolna hai?? Kuch puchna hai?? Tab se dekh rahe hu aise hi dekhe jaa rahe ho mujhe

Neil: Tumhe kya hua hai Mini?? Kyu aisi mujhse dur jaa rahi ho itne dino se dekh raha hu.. Aaj ye baat mat taalna Mini.. Tell me now.

Mini (sighed): Neil...

Just then, the doorbell rang and Preet called her outside, being her saviour once again.. She went out and Neil sighed... He then felt pain shooting up in his head and thought to sleep for sometime..
