Being in the woods and collecting firewood is not how I expected my weekend to start but here I am in the middle of a forest gathering sticks for a fire while the other people I am with are in our camp and probably chill in the sun. I don't know why I am here, and I don't want to be here but still, I am here, and I have to make the best out of the situation.

"Can I help you?" A voice suddenly rips me out of my thought, making me lift my head and look at the other person. "Hm?" I just hum in a questioning way because I could not hear exactly what the person was asking me. Not a hundred percent sure but I think it is Lando one of the others brought him, but I have never seen him before.

"If I can help you with collecting firewood?" He repeats his question and for a second, I don't know what to say. Is he serious about helping me? Because collecting firewood is not the most interesting task you could do on a camping trip.

"If you want to?" I shrug my shoulders and turn my attention back to the ground to gather some firewood we could use later for our campfire where we will make our food, and which will keep us warm when the sun sets, and it will get cold in the woods.

"Sure, you don't need to do this alone." Lando has a cheerful voice and for a second the corner of my mouth lifts because I never seen someone with such a high amount of happiness in everything the person does.

We collect firewood for a while, not speaking at all but instead of being an awkward atmosphere it is just nice to have some company. I probably would have walked several times to gather enough wood but with some help I could end this task way faster.

"Why do you look like you don't want to be here?" Lando suddenly asks me, and I stop my motions because his question is not one you expect to be asked. It is surprising to me how quickly Lando noticed that I indeed do not want to be here on this trip or anywhere near the other people who are here with us.

"Because I don't know why I am." I simply say and continue with collecting sticks from the ground, thinking Lando will stop talking again but he does not, decides to keep up the conversation and keeps my mind occupied.

"You confuse me." He sights, honestly confused because of my words and before I can say anything he asks me his next question.

"Do you want to explain me why you are on this trip even though it seems like you aren't friends with any of the others?" I take a deep breath, stop with collecting the firewood for another time and look at Lando, because I don't get why he is so interested in this topic.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes? I want to understand you." Lando looks confused and I don't know what to say, kind of waiting for him to start laughing why I believe in him being interested in this story. But he doesn't laugh, and I sight softly, deciding to explain him my reaction.

"I've been ignored my whole life so I'm sorry for not believing in the fact that you don't. That you are actually interested in me and my life." I never was a popular person, usually siting in the back of the class and never be noticed by anyone. Lando face has a surprised mimic now, like he does not believe that I am not particular the popular girl like the other on this trip.

He asks me to explain this further and I start rambling about how the other people on this trip usually treat me. How they make me do things they do not want to do and how anxious I am not to follow their demands. Lando listens closely to my words, eyes widening in shock from time to time, but he doesn't cut me off and let me talk trough the whole story before a few amazed words leave his mouth.

"They just use you as their maid?" Lando asks, tilting his slightly while he looks confused if he understood my words the right way. He did, even though I would never use the word maid but in the end Lando is right and I can only confirm his words.

"Yes."

"Why don't you stop it?" He continues with his questions and slowly I relax around him, realising that he is really interested and that he isn't going to laugh at me for what is happening. Lando gives me a safe feeling and I am not sure if I like it or not.

"Because they are in control." The others outnumber me, and I am way too scared to speak up against them because they will find a way to make me feel weak and probably just go back into my behaviour of someone who just doesn't talk and keeps doing what people ask me to do.

"I help you change it." Lando seems to be eager to get me out of this situation, but I am not sure if he realises that it isn't that easy. That you can't back off and don't have to expect consequences and there will be consequence.

"Lando..." I try to explain to him that this is nothing that can be changed in a short amount of time. Not just in the blink of an eye but it has to be planned and well thought before you find yourself facing problems you don't have a solution for.

"No, at least let me try to help you." Lando is determined to help me out of this situation and maybe it is better to have someone by your side to at least help you through tough times even though he can't change the whole situation. I do not even know if I will see Lando again after this weekend.

"Fine." I grumble and see how a wide smile spread on Lando's lips. He is happy and this kind of makes me happy. This is a good feeling and maybe I am going to feel this more often from now on.

"Let's go back to the camp." I suggest because we have gathered a lot of firewood and we are away for a long time now. The others are probably not worried but rather annoyed that we aren't back yet and I don't want to fight at the beginning of this trip.

"Uhm, where are we?" Lando asks, turning a bit around, trying to find any hint where we are or where we have to go to get back to our camping place. I look around too, realising I stopped looking where we are going a long time ago because I was so distracted by the conversation with Lando.

"I have no clue." I admit and sight softly, this is going to be an interesting way back to the tents and to the others.

"At least we are lost together." Lando laughs and I have to grin too. Being lost together is way better than being lost alone and I am sure with Lando it will be an entertaining time.

Maybe it isn't so bad that Lando and I are lost in the woods together where we could strengthen our newly found friendship and who knows to what it will lead to in the future.
