The Nephalem Girl

A oneshot for Darlynn! 

Otto's POV

I have a strong dilemma. I need to go on a rescue mission. A group of evil people kidnapped a very close friend of mine, and I need to fix things. Annika Masson. She is a beautiful and unique woman. She was accompanying some friends on a holiday that served as a honeymoon for two friends of hers who had recently gotten married.

I didn't tell anyone that I was going to see if I could rescue her; they're supposed to be enjoying their time here in Singapore. I know they're worried about Annika, though, but I can handle it. I'm perfection made in a lab. I don't know her friends very much anyway. I was quick to find the location where they were keeping her. I just had to do one thing first. I had to dye my hair. Green hair is very obvious, and I need to change that. I booked a hotel to dye my hair in, choosing to dye it brown.

I sneaked in effortlessly and found the exact place in the building where Annika was. I got her out of the cell and handcuffs. My neohuman powers took care of everyone who got in our way. I brought her to the hotel room I had; I wasn't going to stay in an RV like everyone else.

"Are you alright?" I ask.

"Yeah. They didn't do anything to me, yet." Annika responds.

"I took care of them. They won't be able to come back to hurt you." I retort.

"Thank you! I was so worried that I would be killed or held there forever! You're my savior, Otto! I'm so happy that I could kiss you." She hums.

I feel a blush creeping up on my face. "Aren't we supposed to be in a relationship before we do anything like that?"

"Think of it as gratitude!" Annika says as she pecks my cheek.

That felt good. And she is beautiful... maybe I could try to make something out of this? But I need answers to something first, not to mention that I need to return her to those friends of hers.

"Why would someone want to take you? Forgive me for this, but you don't seem remarkable, like you'd be kidnapped for a reason." I ask.

"I may look normal, but I'm not." She says, sounding cryptic.

"What do you mean?" I query, raising an eyebrow at her.

"Well, I hang out with Supernatural Hunters for a reason. They protect me, most of the time, they must've screwed up last night." Annika explains.

"What are you?" I question.

"I'm a creature called a Nephalem, which means that I'm part human, part angel, and part demon." She hums.

"So you're a supernatural being? Makes sense that you hang around your friends." I murmur.

"Yeah. What about you? Your hair was green, why did you dye it? It was cuter green." Annika retorts.

"I'm not supernatural, I was made in a lab, but it's sort of difficult to explain. We need to get you back to safety with your friends." I say.

I brought her back to where the honeymooners and her friends were. One of the men was shaving his hair and was getting it dyed with henna, all of his grey streaks coated in the black inky liquid. They all seemed surprised by me bringing her back.

"You're safe!!" Priya exclaims.

"I dyed my hair to rescue you, but I suppose I did it for no reason..." Jacob murmurs.

"I'm just happy that your honeymoon wasn't ruined by me disappearing," Annika says.

"That doesn't matter! We would've celebrated our honeymoon after we rescued you and made sure that you were safe!" Gwen exclaims.

"Well, we appreciate you, Mister Kessel, for saving our Nephalem." Chief Arrow beams.

"You're welcome. Annika is a dear friend of mine, so of course I would try to help." I reply.

"You really saved my life, Otto! I'm truly in your debt. Is there anything that I can do to repay you?" Annika returns, hugging me.

"Would I be denied a date if I asked?" I'm trying to be confident and suave, but it really just comes out cocky.

"Sure, I wouldn't say no." She responds.

"Way to upstage our honeymoon." Gwen teases.

Little did I know that my question would change my life forever. Annika and I traveled across Singapore together with the honeymooners. I didn't know them, but I knew Annika, so I pretty much spent all my time with her. We got to know each other a lot better, but we had our date together when we went back home to the States. I'd never left Grimsborough but to stay with Annika, who continues to travel with the Supernatural Hunters who are supposed to protect her, so I've been able to do a lot of sightseeing across the United States.

Our date together was in a Las Vegas club. It was fun, and she looked beautiful in what she wore. With my extreme intelligence, I was able to win a lot of the games. Whether I cheated or was just faster to beat the cronies at their own game, I'll leave it up to her interpretation.

I've loved our time together across the States, and Annika has too. We confessed our love to each other by the beautiful view of the Grand Canyon. I honestly thought that science was one of the best things in the world, but humanity is gorgeous, not to mention the beauty of nature and the natural characteristics of the world, and I feel like I've only gotten to experience this much fun thanks to Annika. I'm just happy that I can be more than what my creator made me to do. If anything, it feels like I get to be a normal human being, which feels strange but wholesome to admit. However, the best part of it all is that I get to do it with someone that I love, cherish, and care deeply about. My sweet and beloved Annika.
