Zara's POV

I'm happier than I've ever been, being married to Theodore, but now that I am, I am under so much stress. I didn't know it would be this complicated and that there would be so many things to do and know as Queen. We changed our status from Prince and Princess to King and Queen. The former King and Queen are still alive, but they're quite old, so they retired from royal duties.

It's not a hard job, but it's a very tedious job. It's a lot of tasks to do. Theodore handles the foreign affairs. I don't understand much about policy or exactly have all of the knowledge to work in that sector of Royal duties, but if I did, I don't think I would be accepted, unfortunately. People don't really accept me yet because I used to live in the servants' quarters and was a peasant. The people of the kingdom have been more accepting of me than people in other nations. They see us as lower because they have someone who is from the lower class as their Queen.

Although the people of the kingdom are more accepting, it's not like they can reject their Queen if Theodore picked me personally and married me, but some people can still be quite mean and cruel, or distant at the least. The nobles stick up their noses at me and still view me as the peasant scum that's beneath them. Some of the fellow servants also aren't as nice to me as they used to be. I used to be one of them, and now they don't see me as that. They see me as a traitor of sorts and think that I betrayed them and my class by marrying the prince.

Theodore just tells me to ignore the comments and try to focus on just doing my duties. If I show that I can be a successful Queen, then maybe they will accept me and see me as a real Queen, even though I already am. So I simply do my duties with dignity and kindness.

They aren't difficult things; it's just a lot, and it is very time-consuming. I'm thankfully not completely alone. I have friends, people who are supposed to help me. I have royal scholars to help me out if I need help with something or if I have a question about what I'm supposed to do since I am new to this. I've also made new friends. Some people have accepted me, and it's been nice that not everyone is rude to me. I just feel bad for Theodore and I since we have to face discrimination from some of the villagers, and the royal duties are causing stress to pile up for us both.

"Your Majesty, are you ready to get your makeup done and outfit for today?" My personal assistant asks.

"Yes. I'm ready. I hear it's looking beautiful outside." I reply.

"And I will make sure that you look just as pretty." She hums.

"That would be wonderful! I'm sure Theodore would like that." I respond.

"Let me get you ready to leave him speechless!" My assistant beams.

She begins to do my makeup. She starts the process by doing the foundation. I sit in a chair, and she begins to do my makeup. She sets everything and then does primer and other makeup. She then does the stuff for the eyes. I don't know much about makeup and still don't, but I didn't wear it before becoming a Royal. My assistant does my eyeliner and eyeshadow. The eyeliner was black, and the eyeshadow was a light pink. She also applied some glitter afterwards. Now, some lip products are applied. She put on some light red on and then some lip gloss to give my lips some shine. She fixes my hair and then gets my dress and outfit.

My dress looks so beautiful. I'm so excited to put it on. I haven't worn this one before, so I'm excited to see how it looks on me. It looks like a new dress, a beautiful and regal purple one. It seems like I get a new dress every week. I don't understand why I need all of these dresses. I can wear the same dress again; it's not going to ruin the quality if I wear something twice. Just one of the things about royalty that I don't understand. I'm helped into the dress and all my accessories, like a corset, are applied. She gives me my jewelry that complements my outfit and helps me put it on. Wow, I look gorgeous! Well, now it's time for breakfast, and then we have to do my royal duties.

I slip on some heels and then walk to the dining room to be served breakfast. Theodore is sitting across from me, looking as handsome as ever. We've been served some delicious pastries, juice, and some eggs. Theodore and I chatted about what our day is going to look like, how we slept, and just small talk. I don't like talking about royal duties and tasks for the day at breakfast; it makes me feel like I'm starting the day off on the wrong foot. I have to go see the citizens of our kingdom at town hall today and listen to their problems and complaints to see what I can do.

"I hope you have a good day, my dear!" Theodore hums.

"I should, nothing should be too difficult today. I hope that things go well for you, Darling." I reply.

He smiles at me and I smile back. We shared a kiss, and then it was time for us to part and go our merry way to do our job for the day. I headed to the town hall and sat in my royal seat. I don't know all of the kingdom rules due to me being new to this, but I'm going to try my best. I'll try my best to make sure that people's well-being is good.

I start my day and begin listening to people's issues of the day. It's honestly kind of boring listening to people talk all day, but it's a part of my job. Besides, they're passionate about these issues, and they could really be causing problems for our kingdom. There are many issues. People are concerned about crime happening, the vulnerable in the community, as well as other nations, and public relations. Thankfully, we don't have a lot of conflict going around, nor are there any serious problems within the community. There are also minimal issues, like housing and groundskeeping. Money was also brought up, but the economy is in good shape, and we should use our time of peace and flourishing to improve our kingdom. I listen to everyone's concerns and answer them how I see fit, telling everyone that their concerns are valid and that the King and Queen will do everything that we can in our power to make everyone's life enjoyable here. While it may be stressful, it's worth it in the end.
