Alpha Conan's POV.
Right now we're running next to and helping pull along the flatbed part of a truck we managed to get a hold of. We attacked ropes and handles to us so we can pull it along in our wolf forms. Amber insisted on helping, as did Connor.
I think it's wonderful that they want to be so involved in the work we do for this pack. It always makes me feel so proud of them. They've come a long way.
As we run I start thinking, ever since I got my mind messed with due to the Wolf Bane, I haven't spoken to my wolf. I can still feel him, but it's like there's a barrier keeping him from coming out.
I've been thinking of asking Connor to try healing me again and see what that will do. I may just need to heal on my own though. Amber told me how Connor's wolf didn't talk to him until he was ready. Maybe that's what's up with me and My wolf is just not ready?
I guess I'll find out later on. After a good hour of running, we make it to the edge of town where the humans will be meeting us. The people we are getting this material from are some of the only ones that work with werewolves and are ok with it.
A lot of people know about werewolves or think they know, but the majority of people in this world think we don't exist and it makes it easier to live our lives.
It's only dangerous when those who hunt our kind try to go searching for us. That's what happened with John when he was attacked. We are still looking into that secretly to find out if they've given up on looking for us like they said they would or if they're still coming after us.
If they do, it'll be their very last mistake. All of us then go behind a few trees and shift back to our human forms and dress on the clothes we brought with us.
We then go and wait for the humans to show up. The owner of the supply store were getting our supplies from us is one of the only one's who knows we are werewolves. He and his higher ups.
Amber looks excited to be in a human town. Connor is looking around, he's on high alert and ready to protect her at any moment.
Thankfully this exchange is not too difficult. They show up and unhook their truck bed, hook it up to the one we brought back for them, we then sign off on some paperwork and we're good to go from there.
Amber's going to love how easy it is. I remember the first time my father showed me how an exchange works. It was a few months before the attack that wiped out my pack.
He was so happy to be showing me the work an Alpha does, he let me do the talking and instructed me on how to fill out the paperwork. He even showed me how the truck change works and how to do it myself if I need to.
Where our pack currently is now is where our old pack used to be. We were gone from it for some time before we managed to make a pack of our own and rebuild what the rogues destroyed.
We also got rid of the rogues that still lived there after they destroyed it. Some rogues even came back years later with new rogues they had met, that's how Fenris met his mate.
She wasn't part of the raid that destroyed our pack, but she was related to the leader that did. She even helped us defeat him. That didn't change my mind about her though.
I hated her because she was part of that group of rogues. The leader is the one that killed my parents and knowing she was related to them, I just couldn't stand it. I didn't understand how Fenris could just forgive her and be ok with her.
I used any excuse I had and used a rogue attack that had nothing to do with her in order to get rid of her. I blame myself for Fenris's actions everyday from then on.
Things would be so different if I hadn't of killed her. I should have just listened. Rick said I shouldn't blame myself, that I had no idea he would do all this.
Maybe he's right, but I can't help but feel guilty about this. Before I can think myself any deeper, the truck arrives.
It's the boss who steps out and walks over to me once they're parked. " Alpha Conan. So great to see you again. " says the guy.
" Steve, it's great to see you too. " I say back.
We shake hands and he then looks over and sees Connor and Amber. " These two are new. " says Steve.
" That's right. This is my son Connor and the current Luna of the pack. Luna Amber. " I say
" Connor and Amber. Wonderful. Nice to meet you. " he held out his hand.
Connor snarled at him suddenly. Amber lightly slapped his arm. " Connor, be nice. " she then looked at the human in front of her. " It's nice to meet you sir. Sorry about my mate. He's a bit protective. "
She shook his hand and before turning to Connor. " Sorry. " muttered Connor.
" It's ok. I understand. Come, let me show you how this all works. " says Steve.
They went and he went about showing them how this works. I can't help but to smile. Things are turning out great.
