Steve's POV.

I don't necessarily hate werewolves, but I don't like them. I don't like how they could live like us and walk into our town like they own the place.

It makes me angry. If they would just stay in their own place on their land then we wouldn't have an issue, but they just had to invade ours. I know I sound like a child saying all this, but I don't care. I'm entitled to my own opinion and that's exactly what I'm doing.

As I've learned more about werewolves, I've found out about what happens to werewolves when they don't have a pack and what they are called. Rogues. It makes me fear for the kids that live in our town.

What if one of those rogues go crazy and attack our town? I don't think I could forgive myself if something happened to them and I could have done something about it. That's one of the reasons I accepted the hunters offer.

I needed the money too. I'm not an evil man, I'm not the type to just go around killing werewolves. They are people too after all. They're just different then us given the fact they can turn into a wolf.

I admire the order they have in the pack. That's one thing I can agree with. They run smoothly with those in charge. Our government is in shambles and makes me wish we had order like they do.

I'm sitting on my bunk thinking things through when I hear someone come through the door and start making their way down the steps. Who could be coming down here to us? It's in the middle of the night for Pete sake.

From the door appears a man. He had solid black hair and his eyes were weird. One of them was solid blue, the other was different. That's when I recognize this guy as the former Alpha of the pack. Alpha Conan.

" What brings you here Alpha?" I ask.

" Alpha?" Asks David from a few cells down.

I roll my eyes. " Former Alpha actually. " says Alpha Conan.

" You gave up your roll to a kid? " I ask.

" She's mated to my son and she is far from a kid. " says Alpha Conan.

" How old is she?" I ask.

" Her age doesn't matter. " he says.

" Very well then. Why are you here?" I ask.

" I don't need to have a reason to be in my packs prison. " snapped Alpha Conan.

" Technically you do. You're not the Alpha anymore. Don't you need permission now?" I say with a small smirk. I hear David snort in the other cell.

" I can do what I dang well please. " snapped Alpha Conan.

" Getting a bit defensive there aren't we Alpha." I said.

He growled and then sighed and relaxed. " I wanted to talk to David. " said Alpha Conan.

He turned and walked a few cells down. " What is it you wish to talk to me about Alpha?" Said David.

The cell door opens and I hear shuffling. " Hey, easy buddy. " says David.

I hear them walk away. I sigh in annoyance. There went my entertainment. " He's going to be ok right?" Asked one of the women.

" He should be. If he wants to keep this secret from the Luna, he won't harm him. " I said.

" Oh, that makes sense. " she said.

" What's your name?" I ask.

" Sherry. You?" She said.

" I'm Steve. It's very nice to meet you Sherry. Wish it was under different circumstances. " I said.

" Me too. You seem like a nice guy. " says Sherry.

I don't answer because I'm not sure what else to say. I can't help but to wonder though, why would this guy want to keep this secret from the Luna? Isn't she supposed to know everything? It's confusing.

I then get to thinking. What are the others reasonings for being here? I only joined because of the money.

" Hey Sherry. Why are you here? What made you want to hunt werewolves?" I ask.

She seemed a bit startled by my question. Then her face hardens. " I said you seem like a nice guys. That doesn't mean I'm going to share my life story with you. " she says.

Well ok then. That settles that. What could that Alpha want to talk about so badly with David? Well, aside from the obvious.

Gosh, I want out of this cell. It's stifling, a bit claustrophobic. I don't know what else to do then to pace my cell.

I hear a groan from another cell. " Just go to sleep man. " he said.

" May be easy for you, but not for me. " I said back.

" Count sheep or something. Just stop the pacing. " he said. I hear more shuffling before he settles and goes back to sleep.

I walk over to the bed and lay down. I stare at the ceiling and sigh. This is going to be a long night. After what feels like hours the door to David's cell opens and I hear him being shoved in.

The door closes and locks behind him and Alpha Conan walks away and disappears up the steps. I wonder what all that was about? I'll ask in the morning so I don't wake anyone else up.

Once morning rolls around I look over at the other cells and see them starting to get up. " You awake David?" I ask.

" Yeah. " I hear him respond.

" What was last night about?" I ask.

" He just wanted to threaten me. Nothing bad. He didn't hurt me. " says David.

" Did he say he wanted to keep this secret from the Luna?" I ask.

" No. he said he was going to tell her himself.  He said he did this for her and his son. A way to protect them he said. " says David.

" We could use this to our advantage though if he doesn't get the chance to tell her today." I say.

" Turn her against one of their own. Perfect. Let's hope it goes our way. " says David.

I smirk. This just might work. Let's hope that Alpha doesn't tell the Luna before we get a chance to.
