John's POV.
It's been three months and I'm feeling better than I have in a long time. All my injuries have healed. The only issue is with my wrist.
It still acts up from time to time, but thanks to the doctor here, we're doing physical therapy twice a week to strengthen my muscles in my hand. I still won't have full use of my wrist again, but I'm making much better tigress than they originally thought.
They're even thinking about making me a brace to wear when I'm as my wolf so I can run without issue. So all in all, it's been a good three months and to top it all off. Alpha Grace made me her official Bète.
We work well together and have rebuilt what was destroyed during the rogue attack. We even captured a good amount of them from that attack and they are currently sitting in our prison waiting for further questioning.
I am currently sitting on the edge of my bed. Alpha Grace gave me my own house. Thankfully it's a small one, perfect for one person.
I look at my wrist and see the white raised scars where my injury used to be. Usually the first thing I do in the morning is some warm ups for my wrist and then I get ready for the day and eat. It's only 6:00 in the morning. I'll have enough time to get ready before heading to the pack house.
As I start my warm up I get to thinking about what my family could be doing right now. I know my mom and dad are fine and doing their usual routine I grew accustomed to when dad was training me to become Bète of my home pack.
Amber's been doing so much for her pack and I am so proud of her. She really stepped up and showed those rogues who's boss.
When I heard that Connor appeared and helped her stop Fenris, I was shocked. I didn't think he would do that since he had been brainwashed into thinking Fenris was his Alpha.
He's come to realize who his friends are bud who the enemies really were. I'm happy with all the progress he's made. Amber has been so happy because of it.
It's times like this that make me miss having a mate. I know I didn't know my mate for that long, but I'm glad I got to know her. I wouldn't trade the moments I had with her for the world.
It was a difficult decision when I decided to reject her as my mate, but I had no choice. She betrayed us and caused all the pain we felt it's losing Alpha George and Connor.
I couldn't be mates to her at that point, but that didn't mean I wanted her to die. I still regret not making it in time to protect her, but I'm slowly getting over it. I think she would want me to be happy. So that's what I'll do.
Once I finish my warm ups. I make my way to the bathroom and turn the shower on. After my shower I quickly dry off and dress before making my way downstairs and getting myself a small toasted bagel with butter and jelly on it and a cup of coffee.
I finish eating and leave the house with my coffee and locking the door behind me. As I'm walking, I wave to those I see getting up and starting their day.
I see everyone is putting their garbage on the edge of their driveway. Once every week, we pull a huge cart forward and collect everyone's garbage before rushing it over to the abandoned dump we found a few miles away just outside of our borders.
The dump was built and rarely used so I would call it completely abandoned. The guy who works there knows about us, so he makes sure the day we come is the day the dump is closed so no one else sees us. It's for our safety and for theirs.
As I make it to the pack house I see Alpha Grace is helping the cooks lay out breakfast for those that are living in the pack house until they are well enough to live in a house of their own.
We've gotten a few new members since the war with the rogues. We even found a human couple that ran off for their homes. Turns out they weren't allowed to be together and the parents of the girl were going to arrange a marriage for her. So the two ran off.
We understood and took them in. They weren't allowed to be together because the boy was actually the son of a werewolf couple. The wife didn't know about werewolves, even after she got married and had a kid. Once she found out she did something and the husband died.
She went crazy after losing him, not realizing that killing him would cause her unimaginable pain. She hated werewolves since and waited for years until she was sure her son would never turn into a werewolf.
Turns out the family of the girl had lost their grandparents to a rogue attack and once they found out he was the som of a werewolf, they refused to let their daughter date such a man, let alone marry.
We gladly took them in and they have been a brilliant addition to this pack. The girl is still torn up about losing her family but her boyfriend never leaves her side. It's sweet to watch. He may not be a werewolf, but I pretty sure he has some aspects like one. Such as finding a mate.
I hope that's what it is. I look at Alpha Grace. " Good morning Alpha Grace. Need some help?" I ask.
" Thanks John. That would be lovely. " says Alpha Grace.
I smile and walked forward to help her. I have a good feeling that today is going to be a great day.
