Amber's POV.
So here I am in front of Steve's cell. I put him on low security since he didn't have our strength and ability to turn to a wolf. I made sure he was watched though.
I'm here to talk to him today while he's in his cell for a few minutes to gather what I can for his interrogation tomorrow. I haven't seen him since we put him in here.
He looks up when he sees me and his look darkens. " I take it you ended up taking that deal with the werewolf hunters? Didn't you?" I ask.
" I want my lawyer. " says Steve.
" Doesn't work like that here Steve. We will make sure you get a fair trial. However, what you tell me now will help you in the long run. " I say.
" I have nothing to say to you. " spat Steve.
" I don't think you're understanding just how serious your situation is. You have no rights here because you don't belong to any pack. You could get a small favor if you tell us everything you know. You won't be off the hook but your sentence can be reduced if you cooperate. " I say.
Steve stands and walks up to the bars. " People will notice I'm missing and they will search through every aspect of these woods. They will find you and you will be charged with kidnapping. " says Steve.
" This is a government owned property. They would have to go through a lot of paperwork to even get a warrant. " I say.
It really is just private property. These archers used to hold a training camp for soldiers. Alpha Conan managed to work up enough money to buy this property a while after it had been abandoned. Technically it's not government property anymore, but Steve doesn't need to know that.
Now it's just private property and they would have to go through a lot to get a warrant. Steve's face blanched a little at my words. " You're lying. " he claims.
" Want to test that theory?" I say seriously.
He growls a little in anger, though this isn't like a growl that comes from our chest, it's more like a weird noise coming from deep in his throat.
He holds his head high and tried to puff out his chest and act intimidating. " I still won't tell you anything. " he says.
I sigh in defeat. " Fine. Your interrogation will be tomorrow morning at ten. You will be withheld food until lunch tomorrow and will only be given food once you have given us something to work with and you will give us something. " I say.
" You can't starve me. " he growls.
" I never said we were going to starve you. You will still get food each day. It's just the amount of food that will be given depends on you. Have a good night Steve. " I then turn and walk away.
I hear his yell of frustration. A small smirk comes across my face as I leave the prison. Alpha Conan taught me a few things for an interrogation and some people will do anything if denied the proper amount of food needed to keep a body healthy.
He's right about one thing. People will start searching for him. I'd say we have a week before then. When they first arrived at this pack I had them call their families and places of work to let them know they will be out of contact for an extended period of time. No one will look for him within this next week, hopefully.
As I walk out of the prison Alpha Conan is standing there waiting for me. He was my backup in case I needed it. " How'd it go?" He asked.
" It went as expected. We will have try a few different methods to get him to talk, but I want to do anything other than torture. That is going to be our very last resort. " I say.
" Yes ma'am. " says Alpha Conan.
I cringe a little at the ma'am part. " Please, just call me Amber?" I ask.
" Very well then, Amber. " he replies.
I sigh in relief. " Only as long as you stop calling me Alpha. I am no longer one so it's pointless to call me that. " says Conan.
" What should I call you then? It just feels weird to call my mates father by his first name. " I admit.
He laughs. " I guess I see your point. I'll get back to you on that. " he said.
" You do that. " I said with a small grin.
As we walk I tell him what my conversation with Steve was like and he pondered over it for a while. " Sounds to me like he's scared. " says Alpha Conan.
" Of us?" I ask.
" Of them. The werewolf hunters. By him refusing to tell us anything makes me think that they threatened him with much worse then what we could possibly threaten him with. " Alpha Conan said.
" Then how do we go about this?" I ask.
He stops when we make it on the porch and looks at me. " Amber, I can't give you the answer to everything. You'll never grow as Luna if you take orders from me. You have ti figure it out on your own. " says Alpha Conan.
I sigh. I knew this. I was just hoping it would be easy I guess. Working as a Luna is hard. I look at him and nod. " What do you think we should do?" He asks.
I think about it for a few moments as we take a seat in the rocking chairs. " I think we should offer him safety. Entice him with what his life could be like away from them. Offer protection for answers. " I say.
" That's a good start. Let's start with that tomorrow. " says Alpha Conan.
" Yes, let's. " I say. " thank you for all your help by the way. "
" I'll help you whenever I can, Amber. " he said.
I give a grateful smile and start to think over everything in my mind. What could I possibly offer this man to make him change sides and give me the answers I seek?
I guess I'll just have to find out when I interrogate him, until then I'll let the matter drop and focus on being with friends and family for tonight. After all, they mean more to me than anything.
