Alpha Conan's POV.

It's getting closer to lunch time and not a single word has been said between myself and the humans. I've been focusing on a puzzle book.

The burn from the silver cuffs is really starting to make itself known. I looked at the damage and it's close to burning all the way through my skin and that's when it will start bleeding.

There's not much I can do about it though. David insisted on silver cuffs. I know he's up to something with all the questions he and his friend asked me yesterday but I can't seem to pinpoint what it is he's after.

That's when the door opened and footsteps startled me out of my thoughts. Everyone's eyes turned to see who was coming. My eyes widened when I saw that is was my son, accompanied by three guards.

He seems to have been filled in by the fake but realistic look of anger on his face. He stops in front of my cell. His eyes soften just a bit when he sees my wrists but he hardens up his stare quickly and begins to speak.

" Luna Amber has requested that I take you to the interrogation room and begin questioning you on your actions before reporting back to her. " said Connor.

" Understood. " I said. I moved my hands to place the puzzle book away but that caused me to move the silver cuffs and the burning sensation started fresh. I winced and let out a pained hiss before I could stop myself.

Connor seems determined in his role because he made sure his look never changed. That's when I felt something warm run down my hands.

I took a quick look and sure enough my left wrist is bleeding now. David seems to have noticed this as well and is now at the bars of his cell. " Sir, I have a small request." He said.

Connor turned to look at him. " Depends on what it is."

" I think Conan here has suffered enough for now. He hasn't tried even once to escape and has been nothing but kind and regretful of his actions. I request that the silver cuffs be removed and replaced with regular metal and that he receives the medical treatment he needs during your interrogation. " said David.

My eyes widen a fraction. I'm so confused right now. He ordered for me to be put in these cuffs in the first place and now he wants them removed. What is his deal?

Connor looks back at me and sees the steady, thin stream of blood that is now leaking and dripping onto the floor. " Your request has been made and I will consider it. Guards, own the cell and help him to the interrogation room. " ordered Connor.

They did as he said and soon enough it was just the two of us sitting at the table in the middle of the interrogation room.

Connor doesn't speak for a few minutes until a guard walks in with a set of keys, gloves and a first aid kit. Connor thanks him and puts on the gloves before grabbing the keys and unlocking the silver cuffs. He removes them and sets them on the table. The movement caused me to flinch a little in pain.

Connor then replaced his current gloves with medical rubber gloves as he began to treat my wounds. Finally I couldn't stand the silence anymore. " Connor, why are you here? Why aren't you speaking? " I asked gently.

He looks up at me from his crouched position in front of me. I can see his eyes have an uncertain look in them. I can tell he wants to ask me something but he must not be sure how to ask it.

" You know you can tell me anything. You can ask me anything and I promise never to judge. " I assured him.

He turned his attention back to gently wiping away the blood. " I have come to the decision that I want to be the Alpha of this pack. The Alpha that not only does this pack need but that Amber badly needs as well. I want to ask you how do I go about this. What is my first step?" He asks.

Well this sure wasn't what I expected him to ask but I feel an intense feeling well up in my chest. I'm so proud of him for coming to this decision on his own.

" Well I'm sorry Connor, but there is no easy way to go about this. Being an Alpha is a very hard and draining job." I say.

Connor seems to slump down a little. " It is very rewarding though when you help those who need it and when you put others first and see them prosper. The feeling of pride you feel when someone you helped begins to help themselves. It's worth all the agonizing missions and paperwork and all the all nighters that just never seem to end. " I said.

He sets aside the wipes and grabs some disinfectant. " This may sting. " he said before placing it on the wounds.

It does sting but the silver hurt worse. Connor seems to be at war with his thoughts. I can see his struggling and I hate that.

" Being an Alpha is better when you have someone by your side to help you through it all. When I had your mother by my side I felt as if Theresa nothing I couldn't do. Amber will support you through it all. She's been teaching you a lot of what you need to do anyway, hasn't she?" I ask.

He looks up and nods at me. " What if it turns out me being Alpha only worsens Amber's work load and fills her with unneeded stress?" Asked Connor.

" It won't. Connor, she's been doing this on her own since you disappeared. It's been very hard for her and if you become Alpha now and take half that work load. You won't believe how much more relaxed she will be. All she needs is you at her side and the rest will be history. " I said.

Connor nodded again and began to wrap up my wounds with bandages. " How do I know if I'm doing the right thing?" Asked Connor.

I tilted my head in confusion. " What if me becoming Alpha ruins this pack? I could never forgive myself if I just ruined everything Amber's worked so hard to build. " said Connor.

" Connor, son, you already know that with these fears and insecurities you have about becoming Alpha, you will make sure you never do any of that. You'll make mistakes as you go along but that's the thing Connor. Everybody makes mistakes. I've made so many in my life and I'm struggling to make things right. You need to focus on what feels right for you and go from there. " I said.

Connor finished cleaning and bandaging my wounds and stands up. I stand with him. " What does your wolf think about this?" I ask.

" He's all for it. He's constantly encouraging me to put Amber first and then the pack and letting me know that I can do this. " said Connor.

" Listen to him. Has he ever steered you wrong?" I said.

He shakes his head. " No. he's always right. Thanks dad. This has helped a lot. " said Connor.

" I'm glad. Now there's one last thing I need to do. Come here and give me your hands. " I said.

Connor walked over and did as asked. I looked his straight in the eyes and smiled. " Connor, as the son of an Alpha it is now your time to take up that position. You are of age and have matured so much. It is my honor to give to you the Alpha power that was given to me by my father before he died. " I said.

Connor's eyes widened as he felt the change start and at my words. I could feel my fathers power slide through my fingertips into Connor's hands.  I could feel a few tears sting my eyes. Once the process was complete and smiled widely. " It is my honor to give you your new title. Congratulations Alpha Connor. " I said.

He looked so shocked yet so touched that he just rushed forward and hugged me tightly. I laughed and hugged back. " Thanks dad. You're amazing. " he said.

" I'm very proud of you Connor. Now go be the Alpha you were born to be. " I said.

We sat there hugging for a long time and neither one of us seemed to care about it. This is the way things should be and I will ever regret this.
