Chapter 96.

Amber's POV.

Last night I stayed up pretty late to make sure everyone was settled comfortably in their rooms before going to bed myself. I hated having to be away from Rebecca, especially when I know she wanted me next to her when she was going to sleep.

She was still awake when I had finally made it to bed. I ended up just laying down and opening my arms for her. We fell asleep together like that and we're still like that when we got up this morning.

After a quick breakfast I took Rebecca with me to the town and into our little bakery. I took some guards with me and I bought breakfast for all the guests staying at my pack.

When we got back a lot of them were up and everyone greeted Rebecca with such kindness. Her eyes melts glowing which means she was very talkative today. That's always a great thing. No one even batted an eye at the way she used to communicate. They just rolled with it.

That made Rebecca even more comfortable around them. She was currently talking with this lady from Alpha Lucas's pack. They were talking about how she had a daughter Rebecca's age and Rebecca was asking all kinds of questions. The lady was more than happy to answer them all while subconsciously making taking care of Rebecca by making sure she finished eating. It was quite cute to see.

I looked to see Alpha Benjamin walking up to me. " You care deeply for her, don't you?" He asked.

I nod in response. " It's hard to describe the exact way I feel about her. " I said.

" That is completely understandable. Taking care of a child is new territory for you. " said Alpha Benjamin.

" That's true. I wish I could say all of this has been easy but she's been waking up at least once every night with nightmares. I believe that's why she was awake when I went to bed last night. " I said.

" Has she told you what the nightmares are about?" He asked.

" No, I've wanted to ask but I don't want her to feel pressured. She'll talk about them when she's ready. " I said.

" That's very sweet of you. She's lucky to have you and Connor looking out for her. " he said.

I smiled and looked at him. " What about you? How's life as a new father treating you?" I asked.

He laughs. " It's tiring but ultimately the most rewarding job you can have. I wouldn't change it for the world. " he said.

" Fantastic. I'm glad you're happy. " I said.

" I hated having to leave my mate alone but when she heard what was happening here she immediately insisted that I come and help. How could I argue? " he said.

" That was very kind of her. I'm glad you guys are here. " I then take a look around and finally see everyone is here. I whistle to gain everyone's attention.

They all look at me and everything goes silent. " First things first, I would like to thank you all for being here and supporting my pack and I as we go through this difficult time. It means a lot to me that you are willing to risk your lives even though you don't have to. For that I sincerely thank you. " I said.

I then take a deep breath. " What we are facing is a lot more dangerous than I could have imagined. Which is why I am bringing out the specially designed armor we have for our wolf forms down in our armory. We already know that our last threat was no against using guns. We need to be cautious in case these humans are using guns as well. I won't risk your lives like that. " I said.

Alpha Benjamin shared a look with Alpha Lucas. They must not have thought about the possibility of guns being used. They then looked back to me and nodded.

" We will do whatever we can to help you. " said Alpha Lucas.

A chorus of agreement was heard amount all the people here. " I've had a guard go down and count how many sets of armor we have. We have thirty for wolf forms and thirty for human forms. These armor sets consist of metal plating that will go over your most vital areas on your chest and there will also be a helmet. You can still get injured but you will not die if shot at. Same goes for the human form or the armor. " I said.

They all nodded. " Today I will be slowly moving the kids and the elderly to the pack house where they will be safe. Those who are willing to fight can fight and those who can't or don't wish to will stay with their families here. I will not make you fight if you do not wish to. " I said.

" You are very kind Luna Amber. " said a voice by the doorway.

I looked to see a group of men and women standing there. " We heard from each other about what's going on through what we've overheard some guards saw. We wish to help. All of us. " said one of the ladies.

" You won't be alone in this. " said a male.

I grinned and felt touched by this. I truly wasn't expecting people to just show up and offer their support. The grin faded though. " I won't have enough armor for all of you though?" I said.

" Doesn't matter to us. We still want to help. " said another girl.

" Whatever you need Luna. " said the First Lady who spoke.

I nodded. " Come on in and find a seat. We've got some planning to do. " I said.

They all did and I looked to see Connor had Rebecca in his lap and she was looking in awe at what just accrued.

" Today we are sending out two teams. One team will be in wolf form and the other in human form. The first team will sniff out the silver traps and alert the second team. The second team will then dismantle each trap and place it in a wagon that will be brought with you. Once all the traps are collected or the wagon is full you are to return back safely. If at any point an attack happens or anyone gets hurt. I want you all back to the pack house immediately. I will not have this battle start under their terms. " I said.

They all agreed. The door off to the side opened and some guards walked in carrying two sets of armor. One for wolf form and one for human form. " These are pure metal and will be heavy. Those in human form may have trouble running. If it comes to that, drop the armor, shift and run. I will not have you risk your lives. " I said.

Alpha Conan had them place the human armor on him. I walked up and strapped it on to where it fit him perfectly. " The armor is moveable and is more than likely uncomfortable. But we are looking more for protection than comfort. " I said.

I then took the helmet for the wolf. " It has a strap underneath so we can keep it hooked to you as you run. Anyone who wants a close up view can walk up and see. " I said.

Almost everyone lined up and came to view the armor. Once they were back in their seats I passed the helmet to a guard. " The first two teams will leave in forty minutes. Everyone who isn't going and still wants to help. Come see me and my group in thirty minutes as we prepare to go get the children and elderly of the pack. " I said.

Everyone then went back to talking and I walked up to Connor. " Proud of you. " said Connor kissing my forehead.

I smiled at him. " You guys are warriors. " called Rebecca.

" Yes we are, sweetie. " I said.

" So cool!!!" She cried.

I laughed and took her from Connor. She would be helping me today while we help the members of the pack get here. Connor would be on team one today. Hopefully everything will work out as planned.
