Alpha Conan's POV.
Thankfully after redoing the entire prison we replaced the old beds with new ones that didn't leave you in pain when you woke up the next day. There's not much to do than sit there and think about things.
The humans here keep talking with each other for hours on end. They're probably being more obnoxious about it to get on my nerves but I'm not going to let them get to me.
Twice a day we have a guard who comes through escorting a staff member who has a rolling tray filled with books and decks of cards, notebooks and pens for us to write with or draw and even puzzle books. I happened to take one of each so I wouldn't get bored and could just mind my own business while secretly listening to anything the humans had to say.
David wasn't much of a talker, all he really did was stare at me from across the way. It's annoying to constantly feel him staring at me but I'm not going to give him what he wants by reacting to him.
" What's with the two different eye colors?" Asked Steve suddenly. He was in the cell next to David so he was able to see into my cell too and I could see into his.
I lifted my head and looked at him. " I don't have to two you anything. " I said before turning back to the puzzle book I was working on.
" Come on. There has to be a reason for it. It definitely isn't natural. " said Steve.
" Doesn't matter if it is or isn't. It's my business, not yours. " I said.
" Just tell us Alpha, it can't be that big of a secret if you're walking around with it on full show. " said Steve.
I think over what to say for a few minutes before I speak. " I haven't been the best Alpha to my pack in a very long time. This different colored eye will forever be my reminder to always do better and to never sink back into the pit of darkness that used to be my home. "
They stare at me in shock before David speaks up. " That's pretty dark. What did you do that was so bad?" He asked.
" Multiple things, but as I said before. That's my business and you don't need to know everything about me. " I said turning back to the puzzle book yet again.
" Are you willing to trade information for information?" Asked David.
" Depends what kind of information you seek and are willing to give." I said turning the page to the next puzzle.
" Tell us about one of the worst thing's you've ever done and I'll give you the name for you to give to the Luna of one of my fellow bosses of the werewolf hunters. " said David.
I put the pen in the book and close it up before setting it in my lap. I turned to him. " How would I know you're telling the truth or that you'll keep your word?" I ask.
" I'll go first then. I'm willing to begin here. Take my offer or don't, it's up to you. " said David.
I shifted my hands. They were still in the silver cuffs and my skin was getting to the point of needing medical attention. It stung but I could handle it.
" Very well. You have yourself a deal. " I said.
" Alright then. In this group of werewolf hunters we have many different groups. As you can tell, I am the leader of one. We also are in different ranks. Since I am new to this my group is at the bottom. The next group in a higher rank is led by a woman named Annabel. She has dark blonde hair and brown eyes. Looks to be in her thirties. She also has a scar on her left shoulder in the shape of claw marks that she got during a battle with a single wolf she found in the forest years ago. That's all I'm giving you. " said David.
I nod in thanks. " That should get you a better deal or at least let them give you medical treatment for your wrists. I can see the burns from here. " said David.
" Thank you for telling me. I will now tell you my story. " I said.
I could tell all the humans were close to their bars to hear me tell my story. I almost rolled my eyes at how absurd this was. A deal is a deal though and I plan to stick to it.
" When my son was 16 an attack happened in my pack led by a group of rogues. My son was set to protect my mate since he was one of the closest to the pack house at the time. He arrived there and ended up being too late and got attacked himself. My mate died that day and because of an event I was not made aware of until a few months ago. I was blinded by my pain and anger and I arrested my son on sight. I blamed him for my mates death and sent him to rot in prison for the rest of his life. I refused to give him a trial and hear him out and I even planned on killing him myself until his friends broke him out of the prison and got him free from me. That is one of the worst things I have ever done and one of the things I will always regret doing. " I said.
They stared shocked. " Dang. That's was worse then I thought it would be. " said Steve.
" Just because we can turn into wolves it doesn't mean we don't have feelings like you humans do. We live, we breathe, we feel just like any being does. We just have a different way of living than you do. " I said.
" Thank you for keeping your word. No wolf that I've met before has done that. " said David.
I nodded and went to open back up my puzzle book when Steve spoke again. " Does that means you've done some awful things before as well? Not just that?" Asked Steve.
" I'm not proud of the life I led before this and I still make mistakes, but I'm getting better. So yes, there are many things I've done before that I'm not proud of. " I said.
" Let's trade again sometime soon. I would love to hear the stories. " said David.
" I just might take you up on that offer. " I said and then turned my attention back to the puzzles.
