Amber's POV.

Evan didn't seem all that weirded out by the mind link. That's a good thing. Now I know what his family looks like and what these hunters look like. The leader was always wearing a mask so I couldn't see his face.

With them chasing another shipment in the opposite direction that gives us time to go and save his family. Given the time it is now, his daughter should be home from school.

I'm sending Tasha and a group of wolves to do this rescue mission. She insisted she be a part of it, so I let her. They left an hour ago and I haven't heard anything from them since. Tasha knows just how dangerous this is. She remembers when humans did to John. I trust her to make the right decisions.

I have some pack members set up some rooms for Evan and Steve. They were more than happy to help out. With them in their rooms getting situated, that gives me time to run the perimeter of the pack at least once with some guards.

I do this every chance I get. It feels good to be as my wolf and just run. I look over at Connor, he is currently going through and filling out the paperwork we have to do for this rescue mission. I went over it with him and he insisted he could fill it out himself. He makes me so proud of him.

" I'm going for a run. If you need help don't hesitate to ask Clayton. " I say.

He looks up, the cap of the pen he was using in between his teeth. He merely nods and offer the best smile he can muster. I smile fondly and walk out.

Once I'm downstairs I go outside to the changing units we have for those who need to shift and don't want to rip their clothes. Once I've shifted the door opens and I take off running to where the guards are waiting for me.

Their wolves nod and together we all take off running. We've been doing multiple daily runs around the perimeter due to the rogues. We want to make sure there is no chance for any rogues to ever cross our border without us being aware.

I take point as we run. I never thought this would be how my life would turn out. Me as a Luna. If someone told me long ago that this would be my life now, I probably would have laughed in their face.

Now, it's not so hard to believe and I'm thankful for all that I have and how my life has turned out. Connor is and will always be the best thing that has ever happened to me.

He's been trying to change and heal so hard lately. I feel bad because I haven't had the chance to look into finding a therapist for him. I think the right kind of therapist for him would be one the deals with trauma.

Connor's gone through a lot of trauma and I'm sure talking about it would help him. Heck, I may even do therapy one day for myself. Right now though, Connor needs it more than ever.

As we run the border I make sure to do a roll call half way through to make sure none of us have disappeared while running. It's standard procedure for us to do that. I've been enforcing it more now after all that's happened.

Once everyone checks in, we continue our run. That's when I get a mind link from Tasha. ' Amber, we have secured the family. No one was injured and we are on our way to you now. '

I knew she could do it. ' Great work Tasha. Stay on high alert and don't let them out of your sight.' I said back to her.

' Yes Luna. ' she replies and the mind link ends.

Good, they should be arriving soon and Evan will have his family somewhere where they will be safe and protected at all times.

Once we finish our run we go to our separate stalls and shift back before changing into our clothes again. I head into the pack house and meet up with Clayton as I'm walking

" Connor finished the paperwork and is in your office waiting for you. " says Clayton.

" Did he have any trouble with anything?" I ask.

" Nothing that I couldn't help him with. " says Clayton.

" Brilliant. Could you get a cook to make us a few snacks and bring it up to my office please?" I ask.

" Sure thing Luna. " he replies before turning to go do as asked.

I make my way up the steps and head towards my office. As I get closer I hear Connor humming a song. My eyes widen when I realize it one of the songs I showed him when we first met. He remembered the tune.

I stay behind the wall and listen for a minute more before turning and walking into the room. He stops humming and looks at me. His cheeks tinted red after having been caught.

" You should try singing. You have a lovely voice. " I say.

He smiles softly at me. " This tune has been in my head for a while now. I'm not sure what song it is, but I can't seem to get it out of my head. " says Connor.

I grin. " That was a song I showed you a few days after we first met. You loved it. You must have remembered the song from your memories. " I say.

He looks hopeful at the thought of him making more progress when it comes to his memories. " What song is it?" He asks.

" A Thousand Years by Cristina Perri. " I say.

" Can we listen to it?" He asks.

I nod and go over to sit with him before pulling out my iPod I have stored in one of the drawers. I hand him the headphones and press play on the song.

I love Connor so much and this song fits perfectly. It makes me so much more happier to think of spending the rest of my life with someone as wonderful as he is. I'll never take him for granted.

After the song he looks at me a smiles warmly. " I love you. " he says.

" I love you too. " I say and we both lean in and kiss each other. I then rest my head on his shoulder and play the song again at his request. Today is a good day.
