Chapter 93.

Alpha Lucas's POV.

After the meeting we had and learning of the danger that threatened to destroy Amber's pack, my mate helped me pack up all my stuff and get thing s ready to leave.

I wasn't planning on taking more then the needed essentials such as a comb and a tooth brush, things like that. I also packed a small bag of clothes.

The guards were getting ready and I had some spare time with my mate before I left. " Don't worry about us. We have everything handled. Go help that poor girl. She needs help now more than ever. " she said.

" I also want to contact John and talk to him. You could feel the anxiety that almost overwhelmed everyone's senses during that mind link, right?" I asked.

" Yes, it was clear it was coming from him. How about this, I'll contact Alpha Grace and get a quick update on how he's doing. I'll then contact you and let you know. " said my mate.

" That would be wonderful. Thank you. " I said.

" Come on. The guards should be ready by now. Let's not keep them waiting. " she said before kissing me.

I nodded and hugged her before we both made our way outside and to the stalls we have set up for us to shift in. I went in and did what I needed to before shifting.

When I walked out there was all the guards who were going with me. One of them had a big wagon on their back which contained all our little bags of supplies.

My mate walked over and rubbed my head for a second. " Be safe. I'll see you in a few days. " she said.

" I love you. " I mind linked to her.

" I love you too. " she said.

I then howled and took off running. More howls followed mine and the guards took off running as well. At this rate we should make it to Amber's pack about two hours after the sun goes down.

I just hope nothing happened until we get there. We end up running with no break for about four hours before I decide it's time to take a small break.

Everyone sat down to rest and some went to go relieve themselves behind a few trees. We freshened up on water and waited about twenty minutes before taking off running again.

' Amber, we are about four hours from your place. 'I said.

' Understood. Hope you travel safely. ' she said back.

With that I focus all my energy on running. It does indeed take up four more hours before we arrive. By then the sun is down and the moon is shining bright.

Once we make it into her territory it feels like the atmosphere has changed. There's something unsettling about being here. I can smell silver. It's pretty close.

' STOP!!' I quickly order my men

They instantly slid to a stop. ' Sir, is everything ok?' Asked one guard.

' You smell the silver too, don't you?' Asked another guard.

' This place doesn't feel right.' Said another guard.

' We may be walking into a trap. The smell of silver is everywhere. Everyone get in a straight line behind me. I'm not risking any of you getting hurt. ' I ordered.

They did as told and I started to move again, making my foot steps heavier so they make a lasting print for my guards to walk over. I have my nose close to the ground and am sniffing constantly to make sure we're not near the silver.

This goes on for about ten minutes before I stop and the silver smell is insanely strong in front of me. The grass is high. I use one of my paws to shift the grass and sure enough there is a silver bear trap right in front of me.

' Silver bear traps. They could be anywhere in this grass. Follow my footsteps exactly and we will make it to the pack house safely. ' I tell them.

A chorus of ' Yes sir.' Follows my order.

I'll have to come out searching with Alpha Benjamin and Alpha Connor tomorrow to find and get rid of all these traps. Speaking of, I should warn Amber.

' Amber, we have entered your pack grounds but have run into a situation. Silver bear traps have been placed everywhere. If you send guards to run the territory line, make sure they are well aware and don't go in pairs. There needs to be full groups. ' I said.

' I figured as much. I have stopped patrols for the time being. I know the humans are hiding in my pack somewhere. I'll tell you more when you get here. Please be careful. ' said Amber.

I work my way through the tall grass and away from any silver bear traps in come across. I make sure my guard members are safe before moving on.

Once we are far enough away from the tall grass and entering the main town area I allow my guards to spread out some. We continue to walk in order to stay safe with our noses near the ground to sniff out any type of silver traps.

Finally I can see the pack house getting closer, but I refuse to let my guard down. We walk through the town and down the road easing to the pack house. Once we arrive we each grab our labeled bag out of the wagon and are led to some stalls to shift and get dressed.

Once I'm dressed and out I am greeted by Alpha Conan and Amber. I immediately notice Alpha Conan has bandages around his wrists but I don't ask why.

I walk up to them and smile. " Good evening Alpha Lucas. I'm so glad you made it here safely. " said Amber.

" Me too. I plan on going out there soon to sniff out and get rid of all the traps I can find. " I said.

" Connor and I will go too. " said Alpha Conan.

" I've already alerted Alpha Benjamin. He should've here with his guard within the hour. " said Amber.

I nod and my guards and I follow them inside. The rooms on the second floor, left side have been prepared for you and your guards. The right side will be for Alpha Benjamin and his guards. All the rooms are the same. They each have a bathroom of their own. Make yourselves at home. " said Amber.

We thank her before each going and picking out which room we wanted. They were decent size rooms with a full bath. I walkover and sit on the bed.

' We made it safely. Almost walked into a few traps set by those werewolf hunters. We're all here and safe. 'I said over mind link to my mate.

' Glad you made it safely Lucas. Please do your best to stay safe. ' she said back.

' I will. I promise. ' I say. We said our good nights before I sighed and got back up. Alpha Benjamin should be here soon and I want to be there to greet him.

I leave the room and close the door behind me. We sure have a lot of work to do. Time to get started.
