Chapter 105.

Amber's POV.

Once we finished talking I made sure to get a few cases of water bottles ready and wait by the door for them to drop off the guards.

I had two stretchers on standby for the two that were injured. As we wait I look around at my fellow pack members to make sure everyone was ok. As I did this, one woman stuck out to me. She looked very worried and in her arms she carried a newborn baby.

I walk up to her. " Hello miss, are you ok? Is your baby in need of anything? " I ask.

" I'm just waiting for the guards that are being brought back. My mate never showed up last night after his shift ended. I believe he is one of the four the humans are bringing back. " she said.

I took a more serious attitude. " Can you give me any distinguishing tells as to if he's hurt or not? " I ask.

" I can barely feel it but it's almost like he's got burns all over his body. " she said.

" Ok, thank you. May I get the name of your mate?" I asked.

" Jensen. " she said.

I froze then. Last night was his shift. He never showed up this morning so I just assumed he was sick. I didn't feel the loss of any pack members or get reports that any were missing or hurt.

I should have known he was one of them. " I'm so sorry miss. I work side by side with Jensen. He is one of my guards that travels with me. Last night was his shift. He left with Andrew to go home around 8. I'll make sure he gets the best care. " I said.

She looked relieved. " Oh thank you. He talks about how sweet you are all the time and about wanting to invite you and your mate over for dinner soon. " she said.

" I would love that but first, let's focus on making sure you and the baby are taken care of and that Jensen gets the treatment he needs. " I said. She nodded.

I then hear a whistle and look back to see Alpha Benjamin at the door. " They're walking up the front walk way now. " he said.

I walked over and grabbed one of the cases of water. We opened the door and myself, Alpha Conan, Benjamin and Lucas followed after me.

The nurses with the stretchers also walked out with us. There stood about ten humans. They had weapons on them and had them pointed at us. Upon further inspection I saw the four guards. I'm the front there were two mostly uninsured guards carrying the one that was severely hurt. It almost seemed like her entire pie of pants was coated in blood from her leg wound. She was deathly pale and barely conscious.

One of the stretchers rushed out to meet them and started to work as best as they could to get her stable first. Behind them was Jensen. He was limping along. His body covered in silver burns including his mouth where they had muzzled him. I'm fact, upon further inspection he was still in some silver bindings and being led along.

He remained quiet and I grew annoyed. " The point of this meeting was the free my guards. Why does he remain in confines?" I asked.

" He tried so many times to fight us. We weren't willing to deal with it. So we decided we'd free him once we made it here. " said Anastasia.

She nodded at her people and they started to free Jensen. Once free he walked up to me and just looked utterly defeated. I know he's probably feeling humiliated as well.

I placed a hand on his uninsured shoulder. " Your mate is inside worried about you. Go get treatment and rest. " I said.

" Yes Luna. " he said weakly as he was ushered into the second stretched. Before they left I looked at him again. " You did well Jensen. Good job. " I said.

He perked up a bit at the praise and nodded as he was taken into the pack house. I turned and looked at the humans again. " We have four cases of water for you and we will be waiting for you to remove the traps before we begin our patrols again. " I said.

Some of the humans wakes forward and took the water. " Thank you for the water. We will remove the traps as soon as we can. I will personally alert you by radio when we are finished. " Said Anastasia.

" Thank you. " I said.

We then said a small goodbye and each started to walk. Once back inside I see the girl who was injured is gone, presumably to be treated. The two that were just bruised were already treated and with their families.

Jensen was on his stretched talking to his mate and getting to see his child. I walked up to them. " I am so sorry I didn't notice something was wrong sooner. " I said.

" Don't be sorry. I was the idiot that got myself captured. You did nothing wrong. " said Jensen.

His mate lightly slapped his arm. " Don't call yourself an idiot. You were just trying to help. You didn't do anything wrong either. " she said.

" What did happen, if you don't mind me asking?" I asked.

" I had just left for the night with Andrew and I walked him home. I was about to head to my house when I saw a flash of light coming from the watch tower. Then it was quickly shut off. I thought that was strange because the night shift is always supposed to have their lights on unless we're in lockdown. So I went to investigate. The second I entered the building and went to climb the stairs I was surrounded by humans who each held daggers, silver ones. I reacted just as thought and fought them off and disarmed a few. There were too many of them and I was quickly overwhelmed. That's when they brought out the silver restraints and cuffed me. They tried to question me but all I did was practically curse them out. In my own way since I don't say curse words. They put the muzzle of and left me alone after that. I was and still am confused as to why they kept me alive. It took me until morning before they placed me with the others. " said Jensen.

" You did well and were very brave. Thank you for all you do to protect this pack. " I said.

He smiled at me. " It's my job. I'm proud to be of service. " he said.

That's when Connor walked up. " I've had silver burns too. Pretty bad ones and they took a few weeks to fully heal. I recommend for you to take at least a full week off to rest up and heal before coming back to work. " said Connor.

Jensen's eyes widened as he felt Connor's power. He then grinned wildly. " Alpha Connor. Man, I have been waiting for the day you became Alpha. Thank you for the recommendation. I will take it into careful consideration. " said Jensen.

" Good I will see to it that you will receive full pay during your week off. The second week you will be on light duty until that week is over. " said Connor.

" Yes Alpha. Thank you. " said Jensen.

I nodded at the hospital staff and they motioned that they were going to move him to the hospital. I backed away with Connor and they left.

It was around that time that I saw May was up and was sitting with Rebecca off to the side reading out loud to her. Rebecca was still drowsy from sleeping so she was sitting there contently.

I couldn't resist the smile that came to my face. Things may have worked out today. Let's hope things remain that way.
